The iPhone X, which was introduced last year, suffered from a severe lack of components from the start. The main culprit here was insufficient supplies of OLED displays, the production of which Samsung was noticeably unable to keep up with. Now the situation is maybe finally solved. In the future, the situation could be much better, as the Korean LG will also take care of the production of OLED panels.

LG's new OLED displays should primarily be used for the upcoming iPhone X Plus model, whose display should reach a diagonal of 6,5 inches. Furthermore, this year we should expect the classic size of 5,8 inches, which we also saw last year. However, the variant with a 6,1-inch display will be an absolute novelty, but it will use LCD technology.

Samsung displays are still irreplaceable

In total, LG should deliver around 15-16 million panels for the X Plus model. In this respect, Apple cannot completely break away from Samsung, as the competition does not have enough capacity to take a similar step. At the same time, the first speculations about a new collaboration began already in December of last year. As for the resulting quality of the panels, Samsung has always been significantly better, so we will have to hope that the differences between the individual versions will not be too great.
