Roguelite is a game genre that usually doesn't hold back with a narrative story. Such games outline the plot only in the roughest possible outlines, so that they can let satisfied fans enjoy their chiseled gameplay. One of the exceptions to this rule was one of the best games of 2020, Hades by Supergiant. A lesser-known surprise from the same year, Fury Unleashed, also goes in a similar direction.

Fury Unleashed is inspired by the most famous classic shooters from the eighties and nineties of the last century. The developers themselves cite the legendary Contra series and Metal Slug as their biggest sources of inspiration. And here, as you can see from the pictures, they have no chance to deny. In the game itself, you jump on platforms and shoot hordes of original enemies. At the same time, each passage through the game will bring you new weapons in your arsenal and, above all, a bunch of experience points that are transferred between individual attempts. So as your ability to predict the game itself grows, so will your heroes have a more diverse selection of abilities.

All that shooting rampage is then tied together by a story about a comic book author dealing with a creative crisis. Between conquering the individual levels, which here are comic books, you can follow a surprisingly human story about the artist's relationship with his work. You can also enjoy this original piece in the company of another player in local multiplayer.
