For some time now, there have been rumors about the arrival of a revolutionary AR headset from the workshop of the Californian giant. Although we don't know much about the product yet, it has been suspiciously quiet for a long time - that is, until now. The portal is currently adding new information DigiTimes. According to them, the professional augmented reality (AR) headset has just gone through the second prototype testing phase, so it's possible that we're closer to the product launch than we originally thought.

Apple View concept

Development of two headsets

According to the latest information, mass production of the product will start already in the second quarter of next year, so theoretically it could be officially presented in the third or fourth quarter. But this piece will not be aimed at the general public. In addition, Apple is going to assemble it from significantly more expensive components, which will of course also affect the final price. The headset could thus cost more than 2 dollars, i.e. more than twice as much as the new iPhone 13 Pro (basic model with 128GB storage), which is sold in our country from less than 29 crowns. Due to such a high price, the Cupertino giant is also working on another interesting headset called Apple Glass, which will be considerably more affordable. However, its development is not a priority now.

A great AR/VR headset concept from Apple (Antonio DeRosa):

We will stay with the aforementioned Apple Glass headset for a while. For the time being, a few interesting concepts have appeared among apple lovers that pointed to a possible design. However, a leading analyst and one of the most respected sources, Ming-Chi Kuo, said in the past that the design in question has not yet been completed, which slows down possible production the most. For this reason, the start of production can be expected only after 2023. Specifically, Kuo mentioned that the more expensive headset will be released in 2022, while the "smart glasses" will not come until 2025 at the earliest.

Will the headsets be separate?

There is still one interesting question, whether the headsets will be independent at all, or whether they will require, for example, a connected iPhone for 100% functionality. A similar question was recently answered by the portal The Information, according to which the first generation of the product will not be as "smart" as originally expected. Apple's new AR chip should be the problem. According to the information available so far, it lacks the Neural Engine, which will require a sufficiently powerful iPhone for some operations.
