Icon of the current e-sports game League of Legends is heading to mobile devices. Riot Games has officially announced the expansion of its title to iOS and Android devices.

League of Legends is a MOBA computer game that reigns supreme in its category. It is one of the most played titles ever and the leading game in e-sports. Riot Games studio is behind "LoLk", as the game is nicknamed. That now announced expansion to mobile platforms including iPhones and iPads.

MOBA – Multiplayer Online Battle Arena, a multiplayer game on the battlefield where teams fight against each other and each player controls a chosen hero. The goal is to destroy the opponent's base. The game requires knowledge about the heroes, their abilities, tactical thinking and much more.

E-Sports – electronic sports, i.e. matches, competitions, championships in computer games.

The mobile version will be called League of Legends: Wild Rift and will be an adapted version of the great LoLk for mobile devices. In particular, the developers tweaked the controls to keep the game true to its dynamic gameplay. Wild Rift will also have a modified smaller game map and a match will last between 15-20 minutes.

It is not the same game, but a title tailored for mobile platforms

Wild Rift is not a direct port from PC / Mac platforms, but it is a game developed with the specifics of mobile platforms in mind.

Rumors about Lolko coming to mobile platforms have been around for a long time. Meanwhile, competing titles that more or less successfully emulate the dynamic and tactical gameplay style have taken a chance.

Riot hopes to join the ranks of other successful studios that have paid off for mobile platforms. Let's name very successful games such as Fortnite, PUBG or Call of Duty, which was a huge success.

League of Legends: Wild Rift is set to arrive sometime in 2020, with Google Play pre-registrations starting now.
