Press Release: Although every previous model ruled the list of the best-selling phones and disappeared from the counters at supersonic speed, the new iPhone 8 practically does not bark. Thanks to half the demand lower than the original assumptions, the company even had to reduce production. What caused this situation?
Apple didn't come up with anything groundbreaking
The glass addition to the Apple family with the number 8 does not offend, but neither does it excite. Compared to the previous model, it only has a slightly modified design, wireless charging, a more powerful A11 Bionic processor and the option of a portrait lighting mode. All this for very ambitious prices that start at 20 CZK, which seems a bit excessive to users.
Of course, sales were not helped much by photos of bloated batteries circulating on social networks. On decay that damaged the phone's construction so much so that you could return it straight away, several dozen customers pointed out. Another reason why there is no interest in the iPhone 8 is the iPhone X, which is both visually and functionally much more interesting.
New phones, outdated tariffs
Another thing that can partly affect the sales of new phones is the outdated range of mobile phones tariffs, which, even after a recent upgrade, still belongs to the Stone Age. Little data, high price. And you don't need an iPhone 8 like that mobile internet nothing at all actually. To be able to use it fully, you need to be online practically non-stop. A large number of users have to limit themselves so that they do not run out of FUP after a week, or pay extra.
How to keep data under control?
Mobile data is easily available on iPhones turn off or on for each application separately in the Settings > Mobile data section. Apps you allow to draw data will use your mobile data connection, others will only be active when you're connected to Wi-Fi. Of course, you can also check which application is "eating" how much and adjust accordingly.
Data plans: Where are they available?
They could be the ideal way out of the precarious tariff situation data tariffs. However, they are not widely available yet, at least not from the "big three". You can find them rather in the menu of some virtual operators, and there is not much to choose from. Calling and texting today can be easily done through applications such as Viber, Whats App and Messenger. Unlimited tariffs are therefore more of a pastime.
Special tariffs for iPhone
That you haven't heard of anything like that? Tariffs for the iPhone saw the light of day just before the legendary 3G model came out. For example, in the Netherlands, operator T-Mobile offered the iPhone 3G tariff from 29.95 euros (150 free call minutes, 150 SMS messages and unlimited data). And today, where nothing, here nothing. At the same time, owners of devices with a bit of an apple would be interested in exactly such a thing.
I bought it and nothing has inflated yet, so it will be a little exaggerated as always ;). On the contrary, iP8 seems to me to be the only version that is worth buying today, if you don't want to carry that ip8 plus brick in your pocket. I'm switching from 5s. So it was a clear choice for me.
But many people say that the iPhone 7 can do the same thing and the 128GB version costs 19K, which is 8k cheaper than the iP6, which is 1/4 the price.
What did the successful 7/7 plus have over the 6s/6s plus? Performance, IP67 and a new home button. I see it exactly the same with the 8 - performance, QI, fast charging. On the contrary, I don't think the X for the extra 9k brings that much value. Mainly an expensive image.
So I declare that display to the heavens…. before it starts to lose its shine :-D.
I'm not thinking about Xko at the moment, it seems pretty good to me for a mobile phone and as you write, I don't see any extra functions that I would like. Face ID is a bit of a beta, and touch ID is fine for me personally. I would like the bigger display (it doesn't even have to be OLED) if it stays around 8 inches in size. Anyway, I don't like biting myself that much either.
I have a 6s and I'm thinking about upgrading. The most important thing for me is water resistance and at least 128GB. So I'll think about iP7 or iP8, or wait another year.
I have a 7 32GB and it's good, only the battery is useless. The Plus version is more usable in this (I had a 6 Plus 64GB). For me, the optimum is 64 GB, so between 7 128 GB and 8 64 GB, I would choose the eight. After all, that performance alone is an investment in the future. After 2 years, iPhones on the new iOS start to lag. Today 7 is not doing much, but in a year it will be and that would bother me. I would probably also use Qi charging, although I admit that it is nothing extra considering the speed and the need for relatively precise positioning.
Unfortunately, I have to agree, the 6s is no longer as lively as in the case of iOS 9 or iOS10, and the battery went down with the current WORST iOS 11. I'm still hoping that it's some kind of mistake and that he'll fix it (my battery is only a year old, so it shouldn't be).
Anyway, this is one thing that forces me to upgrade. I can't really fit into the current 64GB, but 128GB would be enough for me ;-).
I'll probably wait until Christmas, there are discounts on current iPhone models (about 2k) in Elektroword and Datart, so it could be an interesting turning point for buying an 8 with 256GB :-).
PS: Thanks for the opinion.
:-))) So that's good nonsense.
SE Just right in your pocket just right in your hand Affordable luxury price. I will wait until the price of the IP8 drops and it will be a clear choice, as it was almost a year ago with my SE.
