Due to the start of sales of the HomePod speaker, the intelligent assistant Siri is once again getting a shakeup. It is thanks to the presence of Siri that the HomePod, in addition to being a top music speaker, is also an "intelligent speaker" and thus competes with other products in this segment, whether it is Amazon Echo or Google Home in all possible variants. It is a generally known fact that Siri performs the worst of the three, and this was basically confirmed by a new extensive test prepared by editors from a foreign server Wolf Ventures.

As part of the extensive test, the editors tested three different HomePods (to avoid possible distortion due to a defective piece). During the entire course of testing, 782 questions of various types were asked. Assistant Siri performed very well in listening skills, correctly hearing 99,4% of all questions asked. It was significantly worse with the accuracy of the answers. In this regard, she managed to answer correctly only 52,3% of all questions asked. When compared to other assistants, Siri fared the worst. Google Home did the best with this test (81% success), followed by Amazon's Alexa (64%) and Microsoft's Cortana (57%).

Based on the tests performed, it is possible to assess how Siri performed in individual circuits. She did best in questions that concerned either the immediate surroundings or shopping. For example, these are questions about the nearest cafe, the nearest restaurant, the nearest shoe store, etc. In this case, Siri beat both Alexa and Cortana. However, Google is still the best. The very limited capabilities of Siri are also caused by the fact that the assistant lacks some of the more advanced capabilities offered by the competition. For example, working with the calendar, e-mail or calling. Once Apple adds these functions to Siri in the HomePod, the competitiveness of the entire platform will increase again.

This continues to confirm what has been repeated for several months in the case of Siri. Apple needs to work on making the assistant at least at the same level as the competition. Its integration in the HomePod is quite limited for now, which ultimately brings down the product as such. At the moment, HomePod will mainly satisfy music enthusiasts. As far as accompanying functions are concerned, the competition is still far away. It's a shame, because Apple has the technical side of things very well resolved. For example, a constellation of microphones that are able to record user commands even when the speaker is playing at maximum volume. If Siri can match the HomePod's music streaming quality in the coming months, it will be a truly unique product. For now, however, it is primarily a great speaker whose assistant can only do basic commands.
