During this week, Apple released the seventh beta version of the expected macOS Monterey operating system, which revealed quite interesting information. This operating system was already presented during the WWDC 2021 conference in June, and its sharp version for the public is highly likely to be released together with the expected redesigned 14″ and 16″ MacBook Pros. In addition, the latest beta has now revealed an interesting fact about these upcoming laptops regarding the screen resolution.

Expected MacBook Pro 16″ (render):

Portals MacRumors and 9to5Mac revealed the mention of two new resolutions within the latest beta version of the macOS Monterey system. The aforementioned mention appeared in the internal files, specifically in the list of supported resolutions, which can be found by default in the System Preferences. Namely, the resolution is 3024 x 1964 pixels and 3456 x 2234 pixels. It should also be noted that there is currently no Mac with a Retina display that offers the same resolution. For comparison, we can mention the current 13″ MacBook Pro with a resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels and the 16″ MacBook Pro with 3072 x 1920 pixels.

In the case of the expected 14″ MacBook Pro, a higher resolution makes sense, as we will get an inch larger screen. Based on the newly available information, it is also possible to calculate the PPI value, or the number of pixels per inch, which should increase from the current 14 PPI to 227 PPI for the 257″ model. You can also see a direct comparison between the expected MacBook Pro with a 9″ display and the current model with a 5″ display in the image below from 14to13Mac.

At the same time, we must also point out that there are of course other values in the sheet with supported resolutions that point to other options. No other size that isn't directly offered by the screen itself, but isn't tagged with the Retina keyword, as it is right now. Based on this information, a slightly higher resolution can be expected. At the same time, however, there is another possibility, that is, that this is just a mistake on Apple's part. In any case, the new MacBook Pros should be introduced later this year, thanks to which we will soon know the official specifications.

Expected new 14″ and 16″ MacBook Pro

These Apple laptops have been talked about for a long time. Apple should reportedly bet on a brand new design, thanks to which we will also see the return of some connectors. The arrival of an SD card reader, an HDMI port and a magnetic MagSafe power connector are most often mentioned. A significantly more powerful Apple Silicon chip with the designation M1X should come next, which we will see especially an enormous improvement in terms of graphics performance. Some sources also talk about the implementation of a Mini-LED display.
