After five years, we saw the introduction of new hardware as part of the WWDC opening keynote. Apple showed us two computers, the heart of which is the new M2 chip, one of which is already available to order. We are talking about the 13" MacBook Pro, for which you will have to wait until August in certain configurations. At the same time, the MacBook Air M2 hasn't even started pre-selling yet, and it's already clear that it will be quite a struggle to get it in the near future.

On Friday, June 17, the pre-sale of the new 14" MacBook Pros started at 13 p.m. Although the question is whether the word "new" is appropriate here. Apple took the old chassis with the M1 chip and just replaced it with the M2, we didn't get any more news. If you've had a crush on the base build, you can wait until this Friday. Surprisingly, even after the weekend, the date did not move. If you order now, you can still wait until June 24th, that is, the official day of the start of sales.

But the basic 13" MacBook Pro M2, differing from each other only in the size of the storage, is not such a big attraction. Many professionals, for whom the computer is intended, tend to reach for higher RAM configurations. If you choose the 16GB version of the unified memory, the delivery will stretch until July, in the case of the 24GB version of the unified memory until the beginning of August.

MacBook Air as the best-selling MacBook

When introducing the new M2 MacBook Air, it was mentioned that this line of Apple laptops is the best seller. No wonder, because this is an entry laptop to the world of macOS. However, the MacBook Air 2022 offers disproportionately more new things than the MacBook Air 2020 (which remains in the offer), including the second generation of the chip, but also a completely redesigned chassis modeled after the 14 and 16" MacBook Pros from last fall.

It too can be ordered in multiple configurations, including a 10-core GPU and up to 24GB of unified memory. Just the fact that Apple split the availability of the two MacBooks makes it clear that there is still a problem in the supply chain. With the higher versions of the M2 Air, it is so clear that we will have to wait a month for them. So if you are one of the potential interested parties, it is worth watching their launch, which Apple has not yet announced and is expected to do so during July. Perhaps you can shorten the long wait by a week or so by pre-ordering in time.

It will certainly be interesting to see how the company will be supplied with basic configurations. If only because the MacBook Air is the best-selling series, if only because it has a new chassis modeled after the higher MacBooks, if only because it brings not only a clear improvement with the M2 chip, but also the fact that it has new attractive colors, in turn predetermines it to great sales. Compared to that, the price has not increased that much. Those who hesitate to pre-order will simply have to wait.
