Rumors turned out to be true this time, Apple actually introduced a brand new class of its tablets today – iPad Pro. Take the display of the iPad Air, turn it to landscape and fill the space vertically with the display so that its ratio is 4:3. This is exactly how you can imagine the physical dimensions of an almost 13-inch panel.

The iPad Pro display has a resolution of 2732 x 2048 pixels, and since it was created by stretching the longer side of the 9,7-inch iPad, the pixel density remained the same at 264 ppi. Since such a panel consumes a large amount of energy, the iPad Pro can reduce the frequency from 60 Hz to 30 Hz for a static image, thereby delaying battery drain. A new Apple Pencil stylus will be available for creative individuals.

If we were to focus on the device itself, it measures 305,7mm x 220,6mm x 6,9mm and weighs 712 grams. There is one speaker on each side of the shorter edge, so there are four. Lightning connector, Touch ID, power button, volume buttons and 3,5mm jack are in their usual places. A new feature is the Smart connector on the left side, which is used to connect the Smart Keyboard - a keyboard for iPad Pro.

The iPad Pro is powered by the 64-bit A9X processor, which is 8 times faster than the A2X in the iPad Air 1,8 in computing, and 2 times faster in terms of graphics. If we compare the performance of the iPad Pro with the performance of the first iPad in 2010 (just 5 and a half years ago), the numbers will be 22 times and 360 times higher. Smooth editing of 4K video or games with very nice effects and details is not a problem for the large iPad.

The rear camera remained at 8 Mpx with an aperture of ƒ/2.4. It can record video in 1080p at 30 frames per second. Slow-motion footage can be shot at 120 frames per second. The front camera has a resolution of 1,2 Mpx and is capable of recording 720p video.

Apple claims a battery life of 10 hours, which corresponds to the value for smaller models. In terms of connectivity, it goes without saying that Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi 802.11ac with MIMO and, depending on the configuration, also LTE. The M6 co-processor takes care of the iPad's motion detection in the same way as in the iPhone 6s and 9s Plus.

Unlike new iPhone 6s the large iPad Pro has not received a fourth color variant and will be available in space gray, silver or gold. In the United States, the cheapest iPad Pro will cost $799, which gets you 32GB and Wi-Fi. You'll pay $150 more for 128GB and another $130 for the same size with LTE. However, the largest iPad will only be available in November. We still have to wait for the Czech prices, but it is likely that even the cheapest iPad Pro will not fall below 20 crowns.
