When Tim Cook introduced the new iPad Pro on Tuesday, he boasted that the new product is faster and more powerful than 92% of all laptops sold to date. It would be quite interesting to know how Apple arrived at these numbers, as it is somewhat difficult to compare ARM and x86 architectures. Despite all the doubts, these claims are also confirmed by the first results from the Geekbench benchmark.

iPad Pro in benchmark achieves very similar results to this year's version of the MacBook Pro. In terms of numbers, it's 5 points in single-threaded tests and around 020 points in multi-threaded tests for the iPad Pro. If we look at the score achieved by this year's MacBook Pro (with 18 GHz i200), in the case of single-threaded tests it is a shame, in multi-threaded tests the Intel processor does a little better, but the result is relatively tight.

In the last few hours, one article after another has appeared on the web claiming that the new iPad Pro is equally/more powerful than MacBook Pros, which are twice as expensive. However, comparing these two systems is wrong, as they both use a different type of architecture and their performance is thus not directly comparable. The authority of the Geekbench benchmark is small in this regard.

Even so, the testing of the new iPads brought interesting information in connection with the comparison with the previous generation. Compared to the 10,5″ iPad Pro, the new model is 30% more powerful in single-threaded tasks and almost twice as powerful in multi-threaded tasks. Graphic computing power increased by almost 40% year-on-year. The information that Apple offers two variants of operating memory sizes has also been confirmed. The iPad Pro with 1 TB of storage has 6 GB of RAM, while other models have 2 GB less (regardless of size).
