In this regular column, every day we look at the most interesting news that revolves around the California company Apple. Here we focus exclusively on the main events and selected (interesting) speculations. So if you are interested in current events and want to be informed about the apple world, definitely spend a few minutes on the following paragraphs.

The new iPad Air will soon arrive on store shelves

Last month we informed you about the introduction of the redesigned iPad Air, which was announced alongside the new Apple Watch Series 6 and SE. This apple tablet was able to capture the attention of the public almost immediately. In terms of design, it is closer to the more advanced Pro version and thus offers a square body, removed the iconic Home Button, thanks to which we can enjoy smaller frames and moved the Touch ID technology to the upper power button.

What is also new is that the iPad Air of the fourth generation will be sold in five colors: space gray, silver, rose gold, green and azure blue. The operation of the tablet is also ensured by the Apple A14 Bionic chip, which since the iPhone 4S was introduced earlier in the iPad than in the iPhone. While the Apple Watch has been on store shelves since last Friday, we still have to wait for the iPad Air. A big change is also the switch to USB-C, which will allow Apple users to work with multiple accessories and the like.

On the website of the Californian giant, we find a mention of the new apple tablet that it will be available from October. But according to the very well-informed Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, the start of sales could literally be right around the corner. All marketing materials should be slowly available to the resellers themselves, which indicates the imminent start of sales.

Netflix and 4K HDR on macOS Big Sur? Only with Apple T2 chip

On the occasion of the WWDC 2020 developer conference in June, we saw the presentation of the upcoming operating systems. In this case, the Californian giant surprised us with the macOS system, which in a certain sense "matured," and therefore we can look forward to the eleventh version with the Big Sur label. This version brings users a brand new version of the Safari browser, a redesigned Dock and Messages app, a control center, an improved notification center, and many more. macOS Big Sur also allows the user to play 4K HDR video in Safari on Netflix, which was not possible until now. But there is one catch.

According to information from Apple Terminal magazine, one condition will have to be met to start videos in 4K HDR on Netflix. Only Apple computers equipped with the Apple T2 security chip can handle the playback itself. No one knows why it is necessary. This is probably to prevent people with older Macs from needlessly playing demanding videos, which would end up with even worse image and sound quality. Apple computers have only been equipped with the T2 chip since 2018.

The latest iPod Nano is now officially vintage

The Californian giant keeps its own list of so-called obsolete products, which are officially without support and practically one could say that they no longer have any future. As expected, the sub-list has been recently expanded with a rather iconic piece, which is the latest iPod Nano. Apple stuck an imaginary sticker with a label to it vintage. The list of mentioned vintage products includes pieces that have not seen a new version for more than five or less than seven years. Once a product is over seven years old, it goes on the list of obsolete products.

We saw the seventh generation iPod Nano in mid-2015, and it is thus the last product of its kind. The very history of iPods goes back fifteen years, specifically to September 2005, when the very first iPod nano was introduced. The first piece was similar to the classic iPod, but came with a thinner design and a better shape that fit so-called directly in the pocket.
