The new 24″ iMac with M1 is slowly going on sale, and its first benchmark tests have already appeared on the Internet. These were probably taken care of by the first reviewers and can be found on the portal Geekbench. Judging by the results themselves, we definitely have something to look forward to. Of course, the results are comparable to other Apple computers in which the identical M1 chip beats. Namely, it concerns the MacBook Air, 13″ MacBook Pro and Mac mini.

The iMac21,1 is named as the device in the benchmark tests. The latter probably refers to the entry-level model with an 8-core CPU, 7-core GPU and 2 Thunderbolt ports. The tests mention a processor with eight cores and a base frequency of 3,2 GHz. On average (out of the three tests available so far), this piece was able to get 1724 points for one core and 7453 points for multiple cores. When we compare these results to the 21,5″ iMac from 2019, which was equipped with an Intel processor, we immediately see a noticeable difference. The aforementioned Apple computer scored 1109 points and 6014 points respectively in the test for one and more cores.

We can still compare these numbers with the high-end 27″ iMac. In that case, the M1 chip outperforms this model in the single-core test, but lags behind the 10th generation Intel Comet Lake processor in the multi-core test. The 27″ iMac scored 1247 points for one core and 9002 points for multiple cores. Nevertheless, the performance of the new piece is perfect and it is clear that it will definitely have something to offer. At the same time, we should mention that Apple Silicon chips also have their negatives. In particular, they cannot (for now) virtualize Windows, which can be a huge obstacle for someone to purchase the product.
