Two weeks after the release of the first beta versions of the new operating systems iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite, Apple comes with updates to both systems. Both beta versions contained many bugs, and Beta 2 for iOS and Developer Preview 2 for OS X should bring fixes for a large number of them. However, the update also brings a lot more.

iOS 8

Developers testing iOS 8 have discovered several new features in the new beta. One of them is the pre-installed Podcasts app, which previously had to be installed from the App Store. The user interface in the Messages app when typing iMessage has also been changed, where the buttons to activate the microphone and camera are no longer blue and thus do not clash with the blue message bubbles.

The iPad also got a new QuickType keyboard, and the brightness control was also activated in Settings, where it was not functional until now. Privacy settings for the new HomeKit platform have also been added, but the functionality of this innovation is not yet fully guaranteed. Also new is the option to mark all SMS messages (ie iMessages) as read. Another novelty introduced in connection with iOS 8, which is iCloud Photos, has a new welcome screen.

Another nice improvement is the ability of the iBooks reading application to group books of one book series. The text prompting to unlock the phone has also been changed in some languages, and the battery usage center has also been changed to show statistics for the last 24 hours or 5 days instead of the previous 24 hours or 7 days. Finally, there's a nice improvement in Safari - Apple blocks ads that automatically launch the App Store to install an app.

OS X Yosemite 10.10

The latest operating system for Mac also received changes in the second developer preview. The Photo Booth application returned to OS X with the update, and Screen Share received a new icon.

Time Machine's interface has been redesigned, and the new Handoff feature already works as it should. For now, the latest news discovered is that it is no longer necessary to have the Finder open when receiving files via AirDrop.
