iOS 18 is most often talked about in connection with news regarding AI. It is certain that this will be a big topic not only in the opening Keynote WWDC24, but the system is not only alive from artificial intelligence. Of course, Apple plans to add "classic" news to its native applications, and here you can find a list of the most anticipated ones.

Notes

Two relatively essential options should be added right away, namely voice recordings and calculator integration. Both options are already available on iPhones, but separately from Notes, and by integrating them into this application, they will make it easier for us to work with them without having to switch anywhere. In iOS 17 Notes, you can add images and videos, create sketches, and even scan documents, but you can't embed audio in any way. With regard to the calculator, there could also be certain options that would directly calculate mathematical tasks, i.e. by taking a picture of an example.

Maps

After iOS 17 added the ability to download offline maps to your device, it looks like iOS 18 will add another useful feature, creating your own route. With custom routes, you're not limited to the recommended ones that Maps generates when you enter your starting point and your destination. There are also rumors of topographical maps already available to Apple Watch users.

News

Apple plans to add support for the RCS standard to the Messages app, which the company has already confirmed. It does not mean the end of the division into green and blue bubbles, but it does mean that we will also be able to write to users of Android devices through data, we will be able to correctly respond to messages by holding them down, and we will also see read confirmations or writing indicators.

Freeform

The app only recently debuted as part of the iOS 16.2 update, giving us a tool to collaborate across Apple platforms and devices. The novelty here should be a new navigation function called Scenes. This should allow us to mark a specific part of the surface as a scene, for easier navigation. Once such scenes are selected and named, users will be able to easily return to them from anywhere on the board without having to look for them visually.

These are just a handful of changes we're sure to see in iOS 18. We'll know for sure on June 10, when WWDC 2024 begins with Apple's typical opening keynote about its software updates. Applications such as Music, Pages and Keynote or even Safari should get AI functions.
