As the new iPhones 6S and 6S Plus get into the hands of the first customers, interesting tests also appear. In addition to performance or an improved camera, many were also interested in how the latest Apple phones perform underwater. The results are surprisingly positive, significant contact with water may not destroy the iPhone immediately, but waterproofing is definitely not possible yet.

When introducing the iPhones, nor subsequently in their official web presentation, Apple makes no mention of water resistance, i.e. waterproofness. However, it seems that the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus are at least partially waterproof. There is definitely an improvement over last year's models.

On Youtube TechSmartt channel a comparison of Samsung's iPhone 6S Plus and Galaxy S6 Edge appeared. Both phones were submerged in a small container of water and both under a couple of centimeters of water for half an hour without anything happening to them. Last year, in a similar test, the iPhone 6 "died" after a few tens of seconds.

In the next video he performed Zach Straley a similar comparison, only placing the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus under water. After an hour in small containers of water, all functions and connectors worked, even after 48 hours, when Straley did his test he added. However, he noted that he sees minor issues on part of the display.

After these tests, many started talking about the water resistance of the new iPhones. But if that was the case, it would be surprising if Apple didn't mention it in any way, and at the same time it was necessary to subject the phones to a more demanding test. Immersion of iPhones in shallow water and subsequently to a depth of several meters reveals that water and Apple phones are no longer good to play with.

The stress test was carried out by iDeviceHelp. They sank the iPhone 6S Plus to a depth of more than a meter. After one minute, the display started to get angry, after two minutes completely underwater, the iPhone's screen went black, then it turned off, and immediately the phone refused to turn on. When dry, the device did not wake up and after two hours it could not be turned on at all.

It is therefore evident that compared to last year's models, this year's ones are much more resistant, in fact they are the most water-resistant iPhones ever, but this certainly does not mean that you should not worry if your iPhone 6S comes into contact with water. It is possible that it will more easily survive, for example, an unfortunate fall into the toilet bowl, but it is certainly not guaranteed that you will always pull it out fully functional.
