The new Apple Watch Series 4, which Apple introduced last month, and which have been sold in the Czech Republic since last week, received an improved Apple S4 processor in the current generation. According to initial statements made during the keynote, the new chip is up to 100% more powerful than last year's Series 3. The performance of the SoC in such a device is always debatable, mainly due to the limitations of the small battery capacity. Therefore, the power in the Apple Watch is always dosed appropriately so that the processor does not put unnecessary strain on the battery. Now information has appeared on the web about what the real "unlocked" performance of the new S4 processor is, and the result is surprising.

Developer Steve Troughton-Smith created a special demo to test the performance of the Apple Watch, and he was very surprised by the results of the new model. This is a test during which the scene is rendered in real time (using the Metal interface) and the physics of the scene is calculated. During this testing, frames per second are measured and the performance of the tested device is then determined accordingly. As it turns out, when the Apple Watch Series 4 isn't limited by battery power, they have power to spare.

As you can see in the video above, the Series 4 manages this benchmark at 60fps and at about 65% CPU load, which is an incredible result. If we were to compare the performance of the new watch with iPhones, the developer claims that an iPhone 6s and later is needed to achieve a similar result. Series 4 are therefore more than solidly equipped even for more demanding applications. However, the question remains whether the use of similarly demanding applications in watches is a reality.

Although they may have enough power, the battery capacity is limited and the Apple Watch's endurance - although it is relatively sufficient, is still not at such a level that a watch with a similar type of application can be used for a long time. What good are similar apps if they manage to drain the battery in two hours. For now, it is more of an interest and a proof of how fast technology is moving forward. Apple has once again demonstrated that it is the leader in the field of mobile processors, and the results of the Apple S4 only confirm this.
