However, these were mostly minor improvements that do not convince owners of the original AirPods to upgrade. And it's really no wonder. The new AirPods were originally supposed to be released last year as a minor update of the first generation. This year, Apple had planned the debut of a completely new model.

The editor came up with the information Mark Gurman from Bloomberg, which is known for its ties to Apple. According to him, the second generation of AirPods should have appeared on the counters of sellers already last year. Logically, Apple could present it at the September Keynote together with the iPhone XS, XS Max and XR, and it could go on sale alongside the AirPower wireless charger. But in the case of the pad, the engineers were troubled by production problems, it had to be postponed and therefore the improved AirPods were also delayed.

But we all already know the fate of AirPower - Apple a few days ago announced the end of its development stating that the pad did not meet the company's high standards. This is also why the second generation AirPods finally started to go on sale last week, as there was nothing in the way between customers, or rather they no longer had to wait for anything.

Next generation only in 2020

Due to the failure of AirPower, not only the launch of the improved AirPods was delayed, but also the launch of a completely new model with several major innovations. Apple was supposed to show them to the world this fall, but their debut has been postponed, specifically to next year - at least according to Gurman.

There is also speculation about the addition of biometric functions, where the AirPods would be able to measure, for example, the temperature, and the data would then be transmitted to the iPhone and thus the Apple Watch for further analysis. However, it is possible that Apple will keep the implementation of this news until the fourth generation, so that it has something to innovate.
