In May announced changes in Apple's innermost leadership have now officially taken effect, as it signals Apple website with an overview of its managers. Jony Ive has taken on the role of Chief Design Officer, and Alan Dye and Richard Howarth have become vice presidents of user interface design and industrial design, respectively.

Until now, Jony Ive was Apple's senior vice president of design, and as chief design officer he is expected to have a freer hand, but "will continue to be responsible for all design and will focus on current design projects, new ideas and future initiatives," according to a change in management in May CEO Tim Cook revealed.

New VP Alan Dye assumes responsibility for user interface design, while Richard Howarth will also be responsible for industrial design as VP. Both of these men, somewhat surprisingly, answer not to Jony Ive, but directly to Tim Cook.

Both Alan Dye and Richard Howarth are longtime Apple employees. The first named se significantly contributed to the development of the Apple Watch, Types he is also one of the fathers of the first iPhone. Jony Ive will relinquish control of day-to-day operations as design director, freeing up his hands more. He should continue to have a major influence on the design direction of the Californian company.
