On Tuesday, October 18, Apple introduced several new products, including the next generation Apple TV 4K (2022). The arrival of this news was not expected by anyone. The Cupertino giant therefore managed to surprise many fans with its new Apple TV, which at first glance brings several interesting novelties. Even so, the apple company did not manage to completely convince apple drinkers. For a long time there have been concerns about whether a product like the Apple TV even makes sense.

In short, however, it can be said that Apple TV is still a great solution for the home. It brings with it a number of options, led by AirPlay, its own operating system, game support and many others. It is therefore not surprising that Apple is trying to improve the product. As we mentioned above, this year's generation brought with it a number of interesting changes at first glance. But don't let that fool you. When we take a closer look at the news, we discover one sad fact - there really isn't much to stand for.

Lots of news, no glory

The new Apple TV 4K (2022) is still the same at first glance. Nevertheless, it offers a number of changes. First of all, it is necessary to mention its higher performance, which Apple achieved by using the more powerful Apple A15 Bionic chipset in combination with 4 GB of operating memory. The previous generation was equipped with an A12 chip and 3 GB of memory. We can therefore expect better performance from the new series, which can be seen especially when the system is agile or when playing more graphically demanding games. At the same time, it also improved the storage. The basic version is still available with 64GB of storage, however, it is possible to pay extra for a version with 128GB. What is the most fundamental change, however, is the arrival of HDR10+ support. This is a fairly major improvement, making the Apple TV 4K better able to cope with HDR content. Alongside Dolby Vision, it will also support HDR10+ multimedia.

But it more or less ends there. Other changes include the transition of the Siri Remote from Lightning to USB-C, a thinner and lighter body (thanks to the more energy-efficient A15 Bionic chip, Apple could remove the fan and make the product 12% thinner and 50% lighter) and the removal of the inscription TV from the top side. At the same time, if you order a new Apple TV 4K, expect that you will no longer find a power cable for the controller in the package - you will have to purchase it separately.

Although at first glance the new series brings a bunch of different innovations and should thus move to a completely new level, the reality is somewhat different. This is a minor update. In the end, therefore, we come to one and the same question. Is Apple TV 4K even worth it? In this case, of course, it depends on each individual user who has to decide whether Apple TV is worth it. The Cupertino giant even made the new generation a bit cheaper. While the previous series was available for 4990 CZK in the version with 32GB of storage and for 5590 CZK with 64GB of storage, now you can get it a little cheaper. Its price starts at CZK 4190 (Wi-Fi, 64 GB). or you can pay extra for a better version (Wi-Fi + Ethernet, 128 GB), which will cost CZK 4790.
