Adam Kos The London-based company Nothing is not very big and does not have a comprehensive portfolio, but it is slowly building a fan base, because it scores points mainly with its innovative design. Now we know when they will introduce their third phone. Meanwhile, we are still waiting in vain for the available iPhone from Apple.
Nothing has shown the world only two smartphones so far. Nothing Phone (1) and last year Nothing Phone (2). The first is from the middle class, the second is from the upper middle class. The novelty with the designation Nothing Phone (2a) is supposed to be a lightweight second model with a price tag of around 10 CZK. The company plans to officially introduce it to the world on March 5, 2024 at the Fresh Eyes event.

Apart from two smartphones, Nothing's portfolio also includes two TWS headphones and one charging 45W adapter. The company came to the attention of customers mainly thanks to its transparent design, where the light show called Glyph, which is offered by both of its phones, clearly caught the eye. Carl Pei, the founder of OnePlus, and Tony Fadell are also behind the brand. He is often referred to as the father of the iPod, but he also participated in the first three generations of the iPhone before he left Apple and founded Nest, where he became CEO. That is why Nothing is often compared to the "new Apple".

New intestines in an old body?
Of course, it is impossible to compare the two brands. But it is interesting to see that it does not focus exclusively on the top segment. Virtually all other manufacturers of Android devices are in the same situation. Google also offers its lightweight models with the "a" designation, when we should already be expecting the Pixel 8a model in May. Samsung has a rich portfolio divided into series, but it also "lightens up" its flagship Galaxy S series, when it entered the Czech market with the Galaxy S23 FE even before Christmas. The FE here means "fan edition".

Apple is no stranger to a similar strategy either, although in its case we wait a disproportionately long time for new models with the SE moniker and they often disappoint us. Perhaps not so much in the case of the Apple Watch SE, as, of course, in the case of the iPhone SE. It was the 3rd generation iPhone SE that was outdated even before the company introduced it. The archaic design with the persistent desktop button is clearly to blame. In addition, the current price tag of 13 CZK is laughable here (or actually makes you cry).
Unfortunately, the release of the iPhone SE 4 is not expected until sometime in the first half of 2025, so the wait will still be quite long. The reason for this is the fact that it will be technologically based on the iPhone 16 series and therefore cannot be introduced earlier. But we really hope that Apple doesn't just present us with new intestines in an old body.
