Nintendo, the iconic Japanese manufacturer of gaming consoles and world-renowned games, is entering the promising waters of mobile platforms. Its first games are aimed at iOS, and for iPhones and iPads, Nintendo could also start producing hardware accessories. The Japanese company has finally recognized that there is great potential in this segment.

For a long time, the question has been hanging in the air, why such a gaming giant as Nintendo, which brought the world unforgettable classics, does not engage in the sphere of mobile platforms. The public eagerly awaited to relive cult games like Super Mario Bros. on their iOS devices, but their wait was never fulfilled. In short, the management of the Japanese company directed the development of its games purely on its own hardware (for example, the Nintendo DS game console and its latest models), which has long been its strength.

But the situation in the gaming industry has changed, and a year ago the Japanese giant he revealed, that mobile operating systems will be the next step in their development. Nintendo's games will finally arrive on iOS and Android, in addition, the company is also preparing its own controllers, as revealed by Shinja Takahashi, general manager of planning and development of Nintendo's entertainment sphere.

This fact started to be talked about quite a bit with the release Pokémon GO, a brand new augmented reality based game recently released for iOS and Android. Although it is not yet available for all countries, it promises considerable success. After all, these cartoon monsters are truly a cult thing and there is hardly anyone who has not seen them at least once on TV.

But this is not Nintendo's first piece for iOS. In addition to Pokémon GO, we can also find it in the App Store (again, not in Czech). social hru Miitomo, which, however, did not achieve such success. Titles such as Fire Emblem or Animal Crossing should then arrive in the fall.

But apparently Nintendo is not only betting on games in the mobile world, it also wants to focus on hardware accessories, especially game controllers, which should bring a better experience of playing action titles.

"Physical controllers for smart devices are already available in the market, and it is possible that we will come up with something of our own," said Takahashi, who is in charge of the company's entertainment division. "Nintendo's thinking is primarily focused on whether it is really possible to develop such action games that will be playable even without the presence of a physical controller," he added, adding that Nintendo is working on such games.

So it can be expected that Nintendo will introduce its original controllers to the market, but it is not clear when that will be. Although it has been possible to produce controllers for iOS for some time, the market is still far from complete, and Nintendo thus has a chance to break through with its own controllers, if it offers, for example, an interesting price or other features.
