NILOX Tube Wide Angle Action Cam is a tiny and very simple camera. It looks like a smaller roller and actually contains only two control elements and one status two-color LED. Removing the back cover reveals one microHDMI connector, a microSD card slot, microUSB for connecting to a PC or Mac, and a quality switch with HD and WVGA options.

For control, one slider is used to turn on video recording and one button serves as a camera trigger, or to turn it on and off when connected to a computer. After activation, the camera starts recording in about four seconds, which is indicated by a slight vibration and a red LED. After all, the camera mainly signals all states with vibrations, including errors. For example, a full card is signaled by a flashing red LED and several vibrations in a row.

Vibration as a status notification is actually ideal. If you have a camera on your helmet, for example, it's the only way to find out that something is going on. The problem is that you have to learn what each vibration actually means.

The camera is waterproof up to 10 meters and, thanks to its size, can also be used for many sports. You will find a wide range of accessories in the package, so it can be easily attached to a helmet, bicycle or motorcycle, car, skis and many others. During testing, I was able to attach it relatively easily to the dog's back using the supplied strap. In the package you will find two "bases" and two self-adhesive pieces for sticking almost anywhere. After peeling off, the base can be glued again and it holds. Alternatively, you can also use the two included straps with the same base. The camera can also be attached to a regular tripod using a standardized tripod thread.

Don't look for the display on this model. All settings are limited to the recording mode (HD/WVGA) adjustable directly on the camera. Setting the date, time and automatic shutdown is done after connecting to USB using the supplied software for PC and Mac (it is automatically uploaded to the inserted card). The camera cannot format the inserted card by itself - you have to do this manually from the computer directly from the operating system.

Recording in HD mode is just 720p in .h264 with relatively good compression, enough for action shots or underwater filming, but if you need better quality, you're better off going for one of the higher models in the range. The disadvantage is mainly in the 720p resolution, on the other hand, the camera is light, compact and easy to operate. It does not contain a lot of settings and is ready to use right away. Considering the price it does 4 crowns (149 EUR), I dare to evaluate this model positively.
