Apple has released the next version of its OS X Yosemite computer operating system, focusing mainly on improving stability, compatibility and security. However, OS X 10.10.5 also brings specific fixes for Mail, Photos, and QuickTime Player.
OS X 10.10.5 fixes compatibility with certain email servers in the Mail app, fixes an issue in Photos where videos from GoPro cameras could not be imported, and also fixes an issue with playing Windows Media files in QuickTime Player.
The update is recommended for all OS X Yosemite users and can be found in the Mac App Store.
Does anyone have a tip on how to fix it so I can start seeing updates in the Mac App Store again? It tells me there is an update available but nothing shows up and when I run the update nothing happens. I've had it like this since 10.10.4 and I'm currently solving it by downloading the Combo Update. Thanks.
I solve it by setting the USA in the App Store…. then the update can be seen (and its progress). After the update, I switch back to Czech...
Thanks for the tip, the update shows up, but it won't install, it says "Available updates have changed" and doesn't continue :(
I have the same problem, I haven't solved it intensively yet and I'm waiting for the new system to see if it will work well there.
It was happening to me too, so I downloaded the Combo Update (2.1 GB), installed it and it stopped…

I did download that, but the update connects to the apple update server, after a reboot, and still doesn't go through. I don't know what I'm doing either.
I solve it through the terminal :-) "sudo softwareupdate -i -a -v && sudo reboot"
I had the same problem yesterday, it was showing that there was 1 new update, but there was nothing in the updates tab, just the "Update all" button was lit. After pressing it, it asked if it could download and reboot. I confirmed, but nothing happened … nothing happened for a long time. Then all of a sudden there was a reboot, the update installed and there was version 10.10.5. And only then did what he actually installed appear in the AppStore in the updates tab. Hmmm, that's strange...
I have beta Captain and it still does it there too :-(
I had a similar problem, finally a system update from the terminal helped. The App Store somehow protested, kept saying that I had updates available, but stopped responding after launching.
run in terminal:
softwareupdate – list
and then either of your choice sudo softwareupdate –install xxx
or sudo softwareupdate –install -r
sudo softwareupdate –install

It gives me the message "Unable to retrieve data from the Apple update server."
Mail doesn't have a problem with Gmail at launch, finally. Thanks.
For me, the update was downloaded and the installation went well (10.10.5), only every system startup looks like an installation (system loading?) is in progress - it shows the progress under the APPLE. After completion, it goes to the user login menu by default (I have multiple users). The OS works on a Mac mini Server, it has been happening since the 10.10.4 autualization. Does anyone know where the problem could be?
