Today is the day Apple plans to launch pre-orders for its first spatial computer, or headset in layman's terms, the Apple Vision Pro. We've already heard a lot about what apps will be available for this product right after its launch, but now we have some that won't be available for it. And maybe never.

When Apple introduced its Vision Pro, it mentioned the support of the Disney+ platform and how users will be able to enjoy the content present in it (Discovery+, HBO Max, Amazon Prime Video, Paramount+, Peacock, Apple TV+ and others will also be available). However, the world's most popular VOD is Netflix, which has said it will not offer its own app for the Vision product line. However, this does not mean that its content will remain prohibited to you in visionOS. But you'll have to access it through Safari and other web browsers available on this and future Apple headsets instead of the app itself.

But Netflix isn't the only one. Next to join in ignoring the new platform was Google with its YouTube and then music streaming service Spotify. All three then stated that they would not even offer the option to use their iPad apps in visionOS. This is exactly what Apple is betting on when it provides developers with simple tools to convert iPad apps to visionOS. Owners of the first generation of Apple's possibly revolutionary product will have to access all these services via the web if they want to use them.

Is it about the money?

Although Apple states that only minimal effort is required to convert an iPad application to the visionOS platform, the mentioned companies do not want to undertake this either. It may also be because they may not be sure of the outcome. In addition, really small sales of Vison Pro are expected, and maintaining the application will not pay off some of the money that the platform will not return to the provider. But it can be otherwise. It can be a hit and companies will easily turn around and bring their own apps. That is, probably except for Spotify, which is in a long-term partnership with Apple.

By the way, titles such as Instagram, Facebook, Whatsapp, Snapchat, Amazon, Gmail, etc. are not yet available in the store for visionOS. Immediately after the start of sales, on the contrary, there will be Microsoft applications (titles of the 365 package, Teams), Zoom, Slack, Fantastical, JigSpace or Cisco Webex, as well as more than 250 games from Apple Arcade.
