Movie streaming services are constantly improving on the audiovisual side, and Netflix is clearly the most progressive in this area. Not only does it offer content up to 4K quality, but since last year it also supports Dolby Atmos for Apple TV 4K. Now Netflix is taking the sound of its movies and series to an even higher level, which, according to its own words, should approach studio quality.

Netflix in his statement it even states that users can now enjoy sound in the quality heard by creators in the studios. The reproduction of individual details is thus much better and should and should bring a more intense viewing experience to subscribers.

Even the new higher quality sound standard is adaptive, so it can adapt to the available bandwidth, i.e. device limits, and the resulting reproduction is of the highest possible quality that the user can get. After all, the same adaptive system also works in the case of video.

In order to ensure higher sound quality, it was understandably necessary for Netflix to increase the data flow. In addition, it automatically adapts to the connection speed so that playback is as smooth as possible. The resulting quality does not only depend on the available device, but also on the Internet speed. The range of data flow for individual formats is as follows:

  • Dolby Digital Plus 5.1: Data rate from 192 kbps (good) up to 640 kbps (excellent/clear sound).
  • Dolby Atmos: Data streams from 448 kb/s up to 768 kb/s (only available with the highest Premium tariff).

For Apple TV 4K owners, both of the above formats are available, while only 5.1 sound is available on the cheaper Apple TV HD. To get Dolby Atmos quality, it is also necessary to have the most expensive Premium plan prepaid, for which Netflix charges 319 crowns per month.
