Apple's preparations to launch its own streaming service are in full swing. Although the service will compete with established names such as HBO, Amazon or Netflix after its launch, at least the latter operator does not feel threatened by Apple. In announcing its financial results for the fourth quarter of 2018, Netflix said that it does not intend to focus on competition, but rather on improving the experience of its existing users.

Netflix's revenue for the past quarter was $4,19 billion. That's slightly less than the $4,21 billion initially expected, but Netflix's user base has grown to 7,31 million users worldwide, with 1,53 million users located in the United States. Wall Street expectations for this were 6,14 new users worldwide and 1,51 million users in the United States.

On the other hand, Netflix does not spare its competitors. For example, he said of Hulu that it is worse off than YouTube in terms of watch time, and that while it is successful in the United States, it does not exist in Canada. He didn't forget to boast about the fact that during the short YouTube outage last October, his registrations and viewership increased.

Netflix called the Fortnite phenomenon a stronger competitor than, say, HBO. The percentage of people who would rather play Fortnite than watch Netflix is said to be higher than the percentage who might prefer watching HBO over Netflix.

People at Netflix recognize that there are thousands of competitors in the field of streaming services, but the company itself wants to focus primarily on the user experience. In terms of competition, Netflix does not mention the emerging service from Apple, but the services of Disney+, Amazon and others.

The news from Apple still doesn't have a firm launch date, but Apple recently made another content purchase. Given that Tim Cook mentioned in one of the recent interviews the upcoming "new services", we may see other news in addition to streaming this year.
