It was at WWDC22 where Apple introduced two of its laptops equipped with M2 chips. When the 13" MacBook Pro has been on sale for some time, we had to wait a while for the certainly more interesting new product. Since last Friday, the M2 MacBook Air (2022) has also been on sale, and even if its stock is dwindling, the situation is not critical.

While introducing the new Air, which is based on the design of the 14" and 16" MacBook Pros, Apple said it would be available at a later date. Ono later defined exactly when he set the date of pre-sale on July 8, the date of the sharp start of sales on July 15. Even though the MacBook Air series are Apple's best-selling laptops, as was said during the launch of the news, either Apple was relatively well prepared for the onslaught of interest, or there isn't as much interest in it as it might seem.

The MacBook Air situation

Yes, if we look at the Apple Online Store, you will have to wait a while. But the wait is not as dramatic as it might initially seem. If you order the base configuration on July 18th, it will arrive between August 9th and 17th. So it's a relatively bearable three weeks to a month of waiting. The higher-end model will arrive even earlier, which is understandable, as most will be satisfied with the base, not only in terms of performance, but especially the price. You will only have to wait for the 8-core CPU, 10-core GPU and 512GB SSD storage between August 2nd and 9th.

If you don't really need new products right away, but the entry model to the world of MacBooks, i.e. the MacBook Air M1, is enough for you, then you may already have a bit of a problem. After ordering it in the Apple Online Store, it will arrive between August 24 and 31. So it can be seen that many users still reach for a proven and already used model rather than pay extra and try a new product. At the same time, Apple did not touch this model in any way, so it still has the original M1 chip with an 8-core CPU, 7-core GPU, 8 GB of unified memory and 256 GB of SS storage. But it costs a relatively pleasant 29 CZK, while the new models are priced at 990 CZK and 36 CZK.

M2 MacBook Pro

The "accelerated" MacBook Pro went on sale before the Air, and its delivery dates grew quite quickly. However, once the initial rush subsided, inventory levels stabilized and now the situation is similar to what we are used to with Apple from previous years. You order today, you get it tomorrow, in both variants, i.e. both with 8-core CPU, 10-core GPU and 256GB SSD, and 8-core CPU, 10-core GPU and 512GB SSD storage.

After all, the situation has improved even with unconfigured 14 and 16 MacBook Pros. Apple also delivers smaller models the next day after ordering, larger models within a week. The only exception is the 16" MacBook Pro with the M1 Max chip, which, if ordered today, would not arrive until the beginning of August.
