If you've recently upgraded to iOS 13 on your iPhone with Touch ID and you've experienced problems logging into mobile banking, apps like 1Password, and more in connection with the update, know that the cause most likely lies in a bug in iOS 13 that complicates older models work with Touch ID. For example, the error may manifest itself in the fact that prompts for fingerprint authentication are not displayed in the respective applications. Fortunately, there is a solution to this problem.

The mentioned bug appears to be present in both version 13.0 and 13.1.1. It occurs with third-party applications that allow quick login via Touch ID - it can be banking applications or tools for saving and managing passwords, but also for social network clients. As we mentioned in the introduction, after switching to iOS 13, these applications in some cases do not show the option to sign in using Touch ID.

But the reality is that the dialog asking for verification with the help of Touch ID is simply not visible. According to the available reports, it should be enough to proceed the same way as if the dialog was displayed - i.e. put your finger on the Home Button in the usual way and continue logging in. The app should authenticate and sign you in. Another solution – albeit a bit odd – could reportedly be to gently shake the device, which can in some cases result in the appropriate dialog being displayed correctly.

So far, there have been no reports of a similar issue related to Face ID authentication. Only iPhone SE, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus owners are potentially affected. iOS 13 cannot be installed on older devices.
