Among other things, the end of the year is also a traditional occasion for taking stock of all kinds, and the field of technology is no exception in this respect. Come with us to evaluate the biggest missteps of technology companies from last year. Do you feel like we forgot something in our list? Let us know in the comments what you personally consider the biggest blunder of 2022.

The end of Google Stadia

Cloud gaming is a great thing that, among other things, allows players to enjoy a variety of popular game titles without the need to download, install, and meet excessive hardware requirements. Google also entered the waters of cloud gaming some time ago with its Google Stadia service, but not long after its launch, users began to complain about reliability and stability problems that made it practically impossible for them to play. Google decided to end the entire service and paid some users a portion of their payments.

...and the Meta again

We already included the company Meta and the events surrounding it in the overview of missteps last year, but it "won" its place in this year's edition as well. This year, Meta - formerly Facebook - experienced one of its steepest declines. Its earnings fell by tens of percent compared to last year, due, among other things, to the fact that Meta faced both strong competition and several scandals related to certain practices. Even the company's bold plan to launch a metaversion has not yet succeeded.

Elon Musk's Twitter

The possibility that Elon Musk might one day buy the Twitter platform has only been speculated and joked about for some time. But in 2022, the purchase of Twitter by Musk became a reality, and it was definitely not a quiet purchase of a well-functioning company. Since the second half of October, when Twitter passed into Musk's ownership, there has been one bizarre event after another, starting with the dismissal of employees on a conveyor belt, to the confusion surrounding the Twitter Blue subscription service, to the controversy with the alleged surge of hate speech or misinformation on the platform.

iPad 10

After a moment of hesitation, we decided to include this year's iPad 10, i.e. the latest generation of the basic iPad from Apple, in the list of missteps. A number of users, journalists and experts agreed that the "ten" actually has nothing much to offer. Apple has taken care here, for example, of changes in the area of appearance, but the price of the tablet is too high for many. Therefore, many users preferred another variant, or decided to wait for the next generation.

Windows 11

Although the new version of the Windows operating system cannot be described as an unequivocal failure and misstep, it must be noted that it has become a disappointment for many. Not long after the release, users began to complain about slow operation, insufficient multitasking, excessive load on some old, albeit compatible machines, problematic change of the default Internet browser or perhaps the infamous Windows "blue death".
