For a long time there has been talk about the arrival of smart AR/VR glasses from Apple, which the giant has been working hard on for several years. In the last year, we could also encounter a number of different leaks. They basically agree on one thing – the arrival of the new product is practically behind the door and its biggest problem will be the high price. An amount starting at three thousand dollars was often mentioned, which in conversion amounts to almost 74 thousand crowns. However, what if the product faces completely different problems?

Doubts are beginning to appear among apple growers that the product will not meet with twice as much success, while the price will not even play such an important role. The question is whether there would be interest in an AR/VR headset from Apple even if the novelty was available at a relatively low price, or if it could compete with the available competition in this regard.

Potential problem of high price

As we mentioned above, according to a lot of leaks and predictions, the expected AR/VR glasses will cost quite a lot of money. According to this, many apple sellers also expect weak sales, as no one will be able to buy the product just like that. On the other hand, other speculations must also be taken into account. According to them, the headset should literally offer the best technologies, for example, high-quality displays (using a microLED panel), a timeless chipset and a number of other advantages. Due to the deployment of the best technologies, it is understandable that the product could be accompanied by a significantly higher price. In short, Apple is going to bring to the market the best that it can currently offer.

This shows who the target group is for the giant. In general, we could compare an AR/VR headset to a Mac Pro. The latter similarly costs an incredible amount of money, but is still sold - because it is aimed at professionals who need the best. But as we mentioned above, what if the price is not the biggest problem? Concerns are beginning to appear among apple growers that the product would not be successful even if it were available at a significantly lower price. But why?

Does an AR/VR headset actually have potential?

A number of people are starting to speculate that there simply won't be that much interest in a product of this type - whether the price is high or low. When we look at the market of headsets for virtual reality, we do not find it so popular. Among the most popular products is the Oculus Quest 2. It is a fully independent headset that costs just 11 crowns. Thanks to the internal Qualcomm Snapdragon chip, it can cope with a number of tasks and games even without the need to connect a computer. Even so, it is not a groundbreaking product and most people tend to ignore it. Another good example is Sony's VR for the PlayStation console. When this VR set was introduced, there was a lot of talk about its revolution of the entire market and other great features. But a few days and weeks went by and any interest from users completely disappeared.

Accordingly, it is reasonable to worry whether Apple will not meet the same fate. Of course, the question is also why this is actually happening and what is behind it. It has a relatively simple explanation. In a way, virtual reality was ahead of its time and it is possible that people are not yet fully ready for something like this. This is again related to concerns about the expected headset from Apple. As already mentioned, Apple plans to bring the best of the best to the market, so the question is how successful it will actually be. In terms of technology and functionality, no one is talking about it. In the case of popularity and price, however, it cannot be said.
