Using an external iPhone battery is simple: just put the phone in the "case", i.e. the Juice Pack Air, and turn on the switch on the back. This will change the color of the LED from red to green and the iPhone will start charging. Charging is indicated by the LED diodes, which start flashing when connected to the source. They will turn off after 30 seconds of charging and will only turn on again when the Juice Pack Air battery is 100% charged.

However, the benefits you get for the "extra charge" certainly include functionality with the new firmware - where Chinese products can cause problems and charging the battery can be a problem when plugged in, Mophie is a guarantee of quality, which is evidenced by the small number of complaints.
And there's a little bonus: the Juice Pack Air doesn't have a negative effect on the sound quality when the audio is on through the loudspeakers. well, I don't know, during the day it is usually charged from the car (where it navigates in the meantime), the computer, etc.. it practically never happened to me that it was charging during the day because of the battery
and if I'm on vacation, I like to enjoy myself, so I only use the iPhone marginally (in addition, I think that most people check everything they need in advance before the vacation and only use roaming for data abroad to a minimum) and if I'm somewhere where there are no sockets, I have an external battery that The iPhone recharges approx. 10 times and anyway where there are no sockets there is no Wi-Fi or Max Edge, so surfing is out of the question, so it is not a problem to leave the iPhone in a backpack or waist bag where it can be recharged comfortably (it can also be there while listening to music) .. and when I arrive I'll charge both to the socket :)
I see the main disadvantage is that I wouldn't be able to use the lifeproof case, which is more important to me
