If you ask students which device they like to use at school, or which would suit them, you will more and more often come across the answer that their favorite is the iPad. But there is nothing to be surprised about - tablets from Apple are light, powerful and countless work software is available for them. Today, many are content with free programs, but advanced users prefer to reach for something more sophisticated. However, it is really inconvenient to constantly buy applications and return them in case of dissatisfaction, so we will look at ones that will not get lost in practically any iPad.

Notability

With Notability, your iPad becomes an electronic notebook, textbook and lecture recorder all in one. As you may have guessed, this is a notepad. It allows you to sort your notes into folders, you can easily add multimedia, images or documents to your notes. You can use Apple Pencil to write, you can record directly in the application. If you want to write by hand, but you don't manage it very quickly, I recommend that you record the lectures by voice and make only brief notes - after recording the sound, you just need to tap on a certain place and the recording will start exactly from the time you wrote the text you selected. To make work easier, you are able to open two files side by side. You can export specific notes to different formats or secure them with Touch ID or Face ID. The icing on the cake is synchronization via iCloud, but also other storage facilities such as Dropbox, Google Drive or OneDrive. A lifelong investment of CZK 229 will certainly not make you regret it.

Affinity Photo

I don't know anyone who hasn't been disappointed after installing Adobe Photoshop for iPad - it's a pretty stripped-down version of Photoshop for desktop systems. However, there are full-fledged alternatives, and this is exactly the case with Affinity Photo. The functionality is identical to the application for macOS and Photoshop, you can even export projects created in the program from Adobe here. Do you want convenient retouching, work in multiple layers or customizable transitions? You get all this and much more when you purchase Affinity Photo. Graphics fans will also be pleased with the support for an external monitor, where you can easily customize what will be displayed on the iPad and what will be displayed on the external display. If you own an Apple Pencil, you will literally forget about the computer - it is precisely with the Apple pencil that it works perfectly thanks to the pressure and angle sensitivity. In the positive sense of the word, you will also be amazed at the price, because the program will cost you just 249 CZK.

Calculator

Sad as it is, we still haven't seen a native calculator for Apple tablets. Simple calculations can be done by Spotlight, but with them you would have completed the fifth grade of primary school at the most. The Calculator program, which costs CZK 25, but replaces both a basic and a scientific calculator. The functions will be enough for both beginning mathematicians and professionals, it is capable of calculating even with parentheses and works with up to 75-digit numbers. You can share or print the example history anywhere with just a few clicks.

duet display

Since the introduction of the iPadOS 13 system, the iPad can work even better with the Mac, or you can turn the tablet into an external monitor thanks to the wireless connection. If you own a Windows PC, don't worry, with Duet Display you can do it too. You install Duet Display into both products, connect the iPad to the computer with a cable, and suddenly you have a touch extension for your desktop, and on top of that with the Apple Pencil. The program is available for both Windows and macOS for free, but the iPad version will cost 249 CZK. A subscription comes in handy to activate advanced features - it's best if you turn it on on an annual basis.
