Despite the fact that the company in the Czech Republic is already at least partially returning to normal operations as of today, unfortunately almost nothing is certain at this time. In such a situation, it definitely doesn't hurt any of us to clear our heads a little now and then. You can do this in several ways, including, for example, getting out of the house for fresh air and going out into nature or into the bowels of deserted cities. However, not everyone is gifted with a perfect sense of direction and needs to use a navigation application to plan a certain route. That's why we're going to show you applications that will literally pull the thorn out of your heel while walking.

mapy.cz

I hardly know anyone who wouldn't at least have an eye for software from the workshop of the Czech developer and number one on the market - Seznam. Mapy.cz will offer the best maps in our region for both driving and walking. There is hardly a single corner of the Czech Republic that Seznam has not recorded in the application, which can be especially useful when walking. Of course, there are tourist maps for cyclists and pedestrians, thanks to which you don't have to worry about getting lost in an unknown place. A huge advantage is the ability to download maps for offline use, which is useful, for example, in the forest, where Czech operators still tend to struggle with coverage. In addition, everyone will surely be pleased with functions such as the Route Planner or the Tracker. Thanks to Stopař, you won't even have a problem with recording your route. It goes without saying that voice navigation or support for basically all other countries in the world is a given, but in any case, I would recommend testing other software abroad. But if you are serious about visiting new places in our region, Mapy.cz will be the clear choice for you.

Moovit

Are you not a nature lover and would rather go see the sights in the city? Then I can recommend the Moovit application, which is perfect for cities and their surroundings. It helps you search for public transport timetables, informs you about delays and shows you in real time which means of transport you should take. If you have your headphones on in public transport and are neither aware of your surroundings nor listening to the announced stops, Moovit can warn you when to leave the given route. In addition, if you are in the subway or in a place that is not well covered by the signal, you can still view public transport maps. The developers even thought of support for apple watches, the application for them shows nearby stops and departures of individual lines. The biggest disadvantage is the support in our region, when you can only use the application in Prague, Central Bohemia, South Moravia and Moravian-Silesian regions, and the software can still be used in Karlovy Vary. On the other hand, if you are a lover of traveling abroad, you will be delighted with the Moovit app.

CG Transit

If Moovit does not suit you as a timetable search engine or if you do not fall into one of the supported regions, you will certainly appreciate the CG Transit application. It enables route planning, it can notify you when you should get off or leave. Since it was created by Czech developers, it is proud to support practically all Czech connections, but you won't get lost with it even in Slovakia, some European countries or even in about 20 cities in the USA and Canada. While some may be put off by the fact that you have to purchase a timetable license, with the purchase having to be renewed after one year of use, these are not exorbitant amounts.

Google Maps

I probably don't need to introduce anyone to the classics in the form of Google maps, which are among one of the most popular navigation systems ever. A huge number of interesting places around the world are recorded here, from restaurants to shops to even public transport stops. Of course, you have to take into account that some information may be false, such as the timetables of individual routes or the opening hours of businesses, but even so, Google Maps can help you in this aspect as well. If you occasionally need to travel by car, Google Maps will inform you about traffic and guide you on the shortest possible route. In some countries, you will also find maps of airports or shopping centers, which will make it easier for you to find your way indoors. Google has also recently programmed an app for the Apple Watch, but unfortunately it only displays text instructions, you would search for a more detailed map here in vain.
