The end of the year is approaching, so it is appropriate to summarize and evaluate this year in some way. And since there were a lot of newcomers to the mobile Apple world after Christmas, I compiled a list top 10 free games ranking, which are currently on the Appstore. The first category I'm going to dive into is the free-to-play games on the Appstore for iPhone and iPod Touch, but in the next few days I will of course also throw myself into paid games and likewise for applications. So how did it all turn out?

10. Cube Runner (iTunes) – The game uses an accelerometer, thanks to which you control the direction of your "ship". It's nothing more than avoiding objects that stand in your way. The game becomes more difficult over time due to the increasing speed. Your goal is to last as long as possible and make the highest highscore.

9. Papijump (iTunes) – Another game that uses the accelerometer. The character Papi is constantly jumping and you use the tilt of the iPhone to influence the direction in which he jumps. You try to get as high as possible along the platforms. Very easy at first because there are a lot of platforms in the game to jump on, but as time goes on the platforms become less and of course it becomes harder to land correctly. Papi had several variants of games (PapiRiver, PapiPole...) on the Appstore, so if you like these simple games, be sure to search for the word "Papi" on the Appstore.

8. Dactyl (iTunes) – After the start of the game, it is nothing more than gradually unlocking the bombs. The bombs keep lighting up red and you have to press them very quickly. In my opinion, the game is mainly for concentration training. You have to hit accurately and quickly. The only recipe to achieve the highest score is to simply not think about anything and concentrate on the bombs that light up gradually.

7. Touch Hockey: FS5 (Free) (iTunes) – This version of the Air Hockey slot machine really caught my attention and we play multiplayer with someone here and there. Your goal is of course to get the puck into the opponent's goal. It's a very fun game for two and I can only recommend it.

6. Labyrinth Lite Edition (iTunes) – I haven't played this game much lately, but it's such a heart thing. First, I liked these kinds of games as a kid, and second, it was one of the first games I played on an iPhone (first generation). I also like to play it to anyone who hasn't played any iPhone games and this game has always been a hit. In short, a classic.

5. Tap Tap Revenge (iTunes) – Variation on the game Guitar Hero. It is a rhythmic game where you have to click on the strings according to how the individual colors come to you. Only a few go on the easiest difficulty, while on the highest you have to click like crazy. The game offers some songs for free, but also offers a multiplayer mode - you can play both online over the network and also on one iPhone.

4. Sol Free Solitaire (iTunes) – It wouldn't be the same without Solitaire. And although there are a lot of variants on the Appstore, I got by with this one, which is offered for free. The game not only looks good, but the controls are also good. I can only recommend her.

3. Aurora Feint The Beginning (iTunes) – The game feels like a combination of Puzzle Quest and Bejeweled. She took the best from each and added something of her own. It's nothing more than trying to connect three identical symbols and then get points for them (divided into 5 categories). In each round you have to collect a given number of points in these categories. But the game also used the accelerometer, so you can roll the cubes in the same way that you simply rotate the iPhone differently and the gravity changes in the game. The game is very good and certainly should not be missing on anyone's phone.

2. Trace (iTunes) – The game looks terrible at first glance, but if the appearance does not put you off, you will get an absolute gem. The goal is to get your puppet to a designated place. To do this, you use arrow controls and drawing and erasing tools. Yes, the main goal is to draw, for example, a path along which he could pass through the lava or through which he can avoid enemies. Your character must not touch frequently moving enemies or avoid traps during this journey.

1. TapDefense (iTunes) – A perfectly executed Tower Defense game. The game looks pretty decent, but above all, it plays perfectly. Your task is to prevent the enemies from passing through the marked path to heaven. Building different types of towers, which you can improve, will help you with this. Of course, you have your budget here, which cannot be exceeded. You get money for every enemy you kill. This game is funded by ads, but I have to say they weren't annoying and I didn't mind them at all. This is the #1 game in the category of free games, I probably haven't lasted as long with any other game.

I had some other applications in the wider selection, but they just didn't fit into the TOP10. Above all it is Jelly Car, but this game didn't appeal to me as much as one that will probably make it into the TOP10 paid games. There was no room left for either Mining, Free Hangman, Brain Toot (Free) a Brain Tuner.

Special category

There are currently three other nice games for free on the AppStore that it would be a shame not to mention. However, I did not include them in the ranking, because they are free only for a limited time, otherwise they are paid applications.

  • topple (iTunes) – If in Tetris you stack cubes so that they don't grow too high, here you do the complete opposite. You build creatures of different shapes to get as high as possible! But don't expect any flat shapes that fit together, quite the opposite. In addition, the game also uses an accelerometer, so if you do not hold the iPhone straight, the built "tower" will start to tilt. Or, possibly, thanks to this, it is possible to extinguish the danger of collapse, when you balance in all ways. The game is fun and worth it, run while it's free!
  • Tangram Puzzle Pro (iTunes) – Tangram is building different shapes into a single figure. As if your mirror broke and you were putting the shards back together. Definitely a must for puzzle game lovers.
  • Crossbones (iTunes) – An interesting game that is quite new on the Appstore. Such a strange pexeso with exposed cards or whatever you call it. I recommend you download and try this game. At first, the game will seem confusing (going through the tutorial is a must), but it really isn't. In addition, it offers online multiplayer.

The entire ranking is of course just my subjective view of the matter and your ranking may look completely different. Do not be afraid and express your opinion under the article or add your personal ranking.
