Playing video games on a Mac is not as unrealistic as it may seem. After all, this is twice as much since the release of the first Apple computers with an Apple Silicon chip, thanks to which performance has noticeably increased and the possibilities for users have expanded. On Macs specifically, you can enjoy a number of great games that don't even have to come from the Apple Arcade platform. For example, even an ordinary MacBook Air with M1 can play games like Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, League of Legends, Tomb Raider (2013), World of Warcraft: Shadowlands and others. But have you ever thought that you would use for gaming game controller?

Mac game controller compatibility

Of course, you may be wondering if any game controllers or gamepads are even compatible with the macOS operating system. When you start looking at individual gamepads, in the vast majority of cases you will see that, according to the official specifications, they are compatible with, for example, PC (Windows) or game consoles. However, this is not necessarily an obstacle. Apple computers can recognize drivers just as well as the aforementioned computers, but a few rules must be followed. In particular, it is necessary to reach for wireless models. Wired controllers can bring a lot of problems with them, and you may not even be able to get them working.

According to official information from Apple, iPhones, iPod touches, iPads and Macs have no problem connecting wireless controllers Xbox or PlayStation. In this case, it is enough to switch the gamepads to pairing mode and just connect them via the Bluetooth standard, thanks to which you can then use them in games where they are recognized by Steam, for example, without any problems. But it is far from over with these models. Apple computers can also handle game controllers that have MFi (Made for iPhone) certification, including the popular SteelSeries Nimbus+. In that case, several are offered gamepads for iOS, which can be used in the same way in combination with apple computers.

The best game controllers for Mac and iPhone

So what are the best game controllers for Mac and iPhone? Theoretically, it can be said that these are the first three named - i.e. Xbox Wireless Controller, PlayStation 5 DualSense Wireless Controller and SteelSeries Nimbus +. After all, these models are also indirectly recommended by Apple and are praised by apple fans themselves. Of course, a higher price can be an obstacle to their acquisition. For example, if you don't play that much and you don't want to pay almost 2 thousand crowns for a gamepad, then you can certainly get by with cheaper pieces, where the iPega brand can impress, for example.
