We are on the Wednesday of the third week of 2021. A lot has happened since the start of the new year, both on the positive side and on the negative side. In today's IT roundup, we look together at Samsung, which, following the example of Apple, is most likely to ban amateur repairs of its phones with non-original parts. In the next news, we will return to Donald Trump, the ex-president of the United States of America, who recently earned the blocking of most of his accounts. In the latest news, we will then summarize the evaluation of the new game gem Hitman 3. Let's get straight to the point.

Not just Apple. It will no longer be possible to repair Samsung phones with non-original parts

If you somehow manage to break your Apple phone, you have two options for repairing it. The first option is to hand over your iPhone to a home repairman who can do a good job, but in most cases uses non-original parts. The second option is to take the phone to an authorized service center, where it will be professionally repaired with the help of original parts, a professional approach and, of course, you will also get a warranty. In any case, in recent years Apple has been trying to cut a tip for amateur repairmen. If the repairman uses a non-original battery or display, a warning will appear on the iPhone XS and later. In the near future, this notification should also appear if the camera is replaced. As for replacing Touch ID or Face ID, it has not been possible since the iPhone 5s.

Until recently, Apple was more or less criticized for the behavior described above. At first glance, you probably also blame Apple for this behavior - why shouldn't the user be able to choose where to take his phone for repair. But if you look at it from the other side, you will find that this behavior is quite justified. Non-original parts do not reach the same quality as the original ones. Precisely because of this, users may not have an ideal experience when using the device, which may eventually lead them to switch to a competitor. Of course, everything has its pros and cons. Until recently, it looked like nothing like this was coming to Android phones. In the end, however, it turned out that rival Samsung is resorting to a similar restriction. Specifically, on one of its latest phones, the fingerprint reader does not work if you use a non-original display, or if you change the reader from one phone to another.

This was recently reported by YouTube channel Hugh Jeffreys, who conducted this test on two Samsung Galaxy A51 devices. He disassembled both of these phones by removing the fingerprint reader, which is located under the display. When he swapped both fingerprint readers between devices, a message about the need for calibration appeared and fingerprint authentication stopped working reliably. When using a non-original display, the fingerprint reader in the original phone also did not work, anyway only with the latest security update. When Hugh Jeffreys flashed an older security update to one of the phones, the non-genuine display fingerprint reader worked. This only underlines the fact that this is not a coincidence or a mistake, but most likely a limitation that Samsung came up with. Looks like we'll have to be even more careful with our phones in the future. If we break them, we will most likely not avoid having them repaired at an authorized service center.

YouTube will block Trump's channel for at least another week

In the last presidential election in the USA, Joe Biden and Donald Trump faced each other. Democratic Biden became the winner, which unfortunately Trump was not going to accept. Unfortunately, this whole situation came to an ugly conclusion when Trump's supporters stormed the US Capitol. Later, Trump was banned from practically all important social networks, namely Twitter, Facebook and YouTube. As for YouTube, it already blocked Trump's channel on January 12, for at least one week. If you look at the calendar, you will find that a week has already passed, but Trump has not yet been unblocked. YouTube decided to extend the ban for at least another week. Twitter blocked Trump permanently, then Facebook indefinitely. An executive at Google, which owns YouTube, said Trump's channel would be treated like any other. Therefore, removal will occur if the channel violates the terms three times in a row in 90 days. So we probably won't hear about Trump for at least another week.
