It's not even a month since the release of the revolutionary MacBook Pro (2021) series, and already the discussion forums are filled with complaints about rather annoying problems. So, although the new 14″ and 16″ laptops have progressed several levels and have noticeably improved in terms of performance and display, they are still not completely flawless and are plagued by certain errors. However, it should be noted that the arrival of almost every product is accompanied by some problems. Now it just depends on whether they can solve it as quickly as possible. So let's briefly summarize them.

Playback of HDR content on YouTube not working

Some users of the new 14″ and 16″ MacBook Pros have been complaining about the non-functional playback of HDR videos on the YouTube portal for a long time. But that's not to say that playback doesn't work as such - it's more about what happens next. Some Apple users explain this by saying that as soon as they play the given video and start scrolling, for example, to go through the comments, they encounter a very unpleasant fact - the crash of the entire system (kernel error). The error appears in the macOS 12.0.1 Monterey operating system and most often affects devices with 16GB of unified memory, while the 32GB or 64GB variants are no exception. The same problem also occurs when leaving full screen mode.

But currently no one knows what causes the given error, which is actually the worst part. For now, we only have access to various speculations. According to them, it could be a broken AV1 decoding, which would only need a software update to fix. In addition, some Apple users already claim that the situation is improving in the beta version of the macOS 12.1 Monterey system. However, more detailed information is not available for now.

Annoying ghosting

Recently, there have also been complaints about the so-called ghosting, which is again related to the display of content, i.e. the screen. Ghosting refers to a blurry image, which is most noticeable when scrolling the Internet or playing games. In this case, the displayed image is unreadable and can easily confuse the user. In the case of new MacBook Pros, apple users most often complain about this problem in the case of an active dark mode in the Safari browser, where text and individual elements are affected in the aforementioned way. Again, it is not clear to anyone how this problem will continue, or whether it will be fixed by a simple update.
