In 2020, Apple decided to make a fundamental change. On the occasion of the WWDC 2020 developer conference, he announced the transition from Intel processors to Apple's own Silicon solution, built on the ARM architecture. Since the transition, he promised an increase in performance and significantly greater energy efficiency. And as he promised, he delivered. The new Macs with chipsets from the Apple Silicon family literally overcame the original expectations of fans and established a new trend that Apple wants to follow. This started a new era of Apple computers, thanks to which the devices saw a fundamental increase in popularity. Timing also played into Apple's cards. The transition came during the period of the global pandemic, when practically the entire world was working in the framework of home office or distance learning, and people thus needed capable and efficient devices, which Macs fulfilled perfectly.
At the same time, Apple has made its goal quite clear - to completely remove Macs powered by Intel processors from the menu and replace them with Apple Silicon, which is therefore the number one priority. So far, all models have seen this transformation, with the exception of the absolute top of Apple's offer in the form of the Mac Pro. According to various leaks and speculations, Apple encountered a number of obstacles in the development of a particular chipset that caused the delay. However, we can tentatively say that we can forget about Intel in the case of apple computers. Not only are their own chipsets more powerful in many ways, but especially thanks to their economy, they ensure longer battery life and do not suffer from the notorious overheating. For example, the MacBook Air therefore does not even have active cooling in the form of a fan.
There is no interest in Macs with Intel anymore
As we mentioned above, the new Macs with Apple Silicon chipsets literally set a new trend and, with regard to their capabilities, more or less overtook earlier models powered by Intel processors. Although we would find areas in which Intel wins outright, people still generally lean towards the apple variant. The older models were practically completely forgotten, which is also reflected in their price. With the arrival of Apple Silicon, Macs with Intel were completely devalued. A few years ago, it was true that Apple computers held their value significantly better than models from competitors, which is no longer the case today. Definitely not about the mentioned older models.
However, the same fate also befalls relatively newer models, which, however, still hide an Intel processor in their guts. Although it may not be an old device, you can buy it used for a much lower price. This clearly shows a very important indicator - there is simply no interest in Macs with Intel, for several reasons. Apple managed to hit the mark with Apple Silicon, when it brought to the market a great device combining great performance with low consumption.
And isn't it a coincidence that companies don't want to get rid of old Intel?
Because what they give for a new one, you definitely don't have to increase their work productivity. And we assume that all software is ARM compatible. And they don't have any external hardware like external graphics cards, editors, digitizers/3D scanners or studio sound cards.
Normally practically unusable Macbooks with a core 2 duo are often still sold at the 5000 mark, a machine with the first Intel core i5 is sold up to the 10000 mark. Well, and then it practically rises to the price of new ones, that's how it was even before the introduction of the SoC Mx. Unexpectedly, even now, CTOs are in short supply and expensive. The new ones are even more expensive and don't have the compatibility.
A lot of companies bought in the large M1 MBP 14 and 16 inches. In IT, it's an incredibly big rush of compilations. 2-4 thousand dollars is nothing when the people working on it have an annual salary and compensation (bonuses, shares...) worth 150-250 thousand dollars. That's a week of work for a person who has been working with it for several years.
Ad prices of old. Who buys an Intel minigolf mini for 10-15k, for example, when the M1 on the bazaar costs around 12k and you can buy a new M15 from the Apple edu store for 2k. Yes, you can buy something extra old for 3-5k, but who will buy that. This also applies to macbooks. Who will buy air early 2020 from 17 when they will buy late 2020 with a bit of luck for the same. 18k is quite common in the m1 bazaar. 18k last weekend new on alga, true only in person in Holešovice and brutus fronta.
well, it was for 20 kkc 😉
