Although Apple is world-renowned for its precision and systems in which a minimum of bugs appear, unfortunately, even a master carpenter sometimes gets cut. In this case, the carpenter got stuck in a function that we use almost every day. Sometimes on your macOS device, i.e. The copy and paste function may simply stop working on a MacBook or Mac. We also encountered this problem in the editorial office, myself included, and unfortunately, there is a procedure to fix this function, but it is a bit more complicated. Anyway, it's nothing world-shattering that you need to have several degrees before and after your name. So if copy and paste broke for you too, let me show you how to get it working again.

How to fix the copy and paste function?

  • First, we turn off any apps where we think the copy and paste feature isn't working
  • Then we launch the application Activity monitor (for example through Spotlight)
  • After turning on the Activity Monitor application, click on the field in the upper right corner Search
  • We will search for the process "board" (no quotes)
  • We click on the pboard process and we mark your
  • Then we will terminate it using the X icon, which is located in the upper left part of the window
  • After clicking on the cross icon, it will appear window, which asks us if we really want to end the process - we choose the option Enforce end

If you're an advanced macOS user and familiar with the macOS terminal, the command might also help "killall board" (without the quotes) which you can use to kill the pboard process just like we showed above.

If, even after following this procedure, the copy and paste function does not work, try copying some text directly in the application through top bar, where you open adjustments, and then Copy / Paste. Even then, if copy and paste doesn't work, you'll have no choice but to restart your macOS device.
