Despite the fact that Apple computers are considered very reliable, from time to time you may find yourself in a situation where something may not work as expected. I've personally run into Bluetooth-related issues on a Mac a few times over the years. Specifically, I've had issues with the Mac not being able to pair with another device, and more recently with intermittent Bluetooth dropouts where all accessories disconnect from it for a few seconds. Of course, you can try various complicated procedures for the repair. Personally, however, in case of similar problems, I perform a complete reset of the Bluetooth module, which solves all problems.

Bluetooth not working on Mac: How to fix this problem quickly?

So if you also have problems with Bluetooth on your Mac and you don't want to go through various lengthy processes, or if the classic advice doesn't work for you, then definitely reset the entire Bluetooth module. It's not complicated and the whole process will only take you a few seconds. Proceed as follows:

  • First, it is necessary that you have an active displaying the Bluetooth icon in the top bar.
    • If you don't have one, go to System Preferences -> Bluetooth, where the function activate below.
  • Once you have the icon displayed, on the keyboard hold Option + Shift at the same time.
    • On some older macOS devices, there is a key instead of the Option key Alt.
  • So both keys hold and then cursor to Click the Bluetooth icon in the top bar.
  • After that you can Option (old) along with the key Shift release.
  • This will display a drop-down menu with extended options.
  • In this menu, locate and tap the option Reset the Bluetooth module.
  • A dialog box will appear, in which confirm the reset by pressing the button OKAY.

Therefore, in the above-mentioned way, the Bluetooth module can be reset on the Mac and thus solve any problems that may occur with Bluetooth. However, note that resetting the Bluetooth module will remove all devices you have paired in the past. So all these devices will need to be paired again. After resetting the Bluetooth module, there should no longer be any problems in the form of dropping out, or the inability to pair the device. If resetting the Bluetooth module does not help, you can still try resetting the device you are trying to connect to - see the manual for the procedure. If this doesn't help either, it's very likely that the Bluetooth module in your Mac is faulty and you'll have to contact an authorized service center.
