Sandbox games usually give you their game universe with well-defined rules and let you do whatever you like in it. A rather atypical representative of this pseudo-genre is the Rimworld os of the developers from Ludeon Studios. The now cult title gives you plenty of freedom, but it combines it with an original plot driver – narrative artificial intelligence, the parameters of which you can set according to your taste.

At its core, Rimworld is a space colony simulator. You land on an unknown planet with your group of colonists and your task is to build a self-sufficient base that can feed its inhabitants and protect them from all external dangers. Apart from space pirates, these include mainly natural disasters and other unfortunate events. You choose the frequency of such misfortunes along with the type of artificial intelligence that will direct your story.

You can choose between a classic story with increasing tension, a crazy one with a lot of different improbable events, and a relaxed one for those who mainly want to enjoy the atmosphere of gradually improving their space colony. Although the developers describe Rimworld as a story generator, born strategists who make a living in an infinite number of statistics and parameters will also find their way.
