Popular community navigation Waze, owned by Google, has received an interesting update. As part of it, a trip planning function has been added, thanks to which it is possible to enter your trip in advance in the application and thus receive a benefit in the form of a timely notification. The reminder, which notifies you in time to set off on your journey, naturally takes into account the current traffic.
A new trip can be planned by simply setting the navigation to a certain destination and then instead of starting the navigation, tap on the icon in the lower left corner of the display, which symbolizes planning. After that, all that remains is to select the date and time of the trip, or change the starting point of the trip. It is nice that planned rides can also be imported from upcoming events in your calendar or on Facebook.
In addition, two smaller, but relatively significant news were included in the update. The traffic status bar now shows the cause of the traffic jam. So when you stand in a queue with Waze, you will at least be able to find out if there is a traffic accident behind it, or perhaps an obstacle on the road. In addition, the application has finally learned to automatically mute sounds when the user is on the phone.

what is the approximate data consumption of waze? how demanding is this app?
Well, especially if she learned to use the GPS module only when it is actively running in the foreground or navigating. Otherwise, it has a devastating effect on the battery. Basically, apart from the "social function" (yes, about the 295th social stupidity), it can't actually do anything compared to google maps, and I prefer not to even talk about "specialized" navigation.
pixel: if you don't know anything about it, at least don't spread nonsense please.
orxion: 1000km/approx 20-60MB data, depends on circumstances. Challenging?, but not much on iP4.
thanks, I was expecting more demand on data .. a lot .. it doesn't look so bad :)
Agree with Patrik - with a reasonable roaming tariff, also applicable abroad.
The application can be turned off, then it is not active. Otherwise, even in the background, it enables "social stupidity", which is very useful. I recommend trying it, I only use Navigon when I have a problem with data.
Ah, so we're now killing apps on iOS. That's progress. I want navigation from navigation. But it's probably an occupational deformity.
It works pretty well for us, I mean especially traffic information, which I consider to be the biggest plus of these navigation systems. But it works mainly because we are a nation of toys and generate + click traffic data for Google, which it then resells to commercial applications.
However, once you cross the border, Waze is a corpse. I personally tried driving it around Munich for 3 days and I was there almost alone. Traffic information absolutely out of date, poorly mapped one-way markings / prohibitions, etc.. Switched to TomTom and traffic information was 90% up-to-date.
Otherwise, data consumption is really negligible. Traveled 11.000 km = consumption of 400 MB of data.
I go to Poland quite often and it goes there without any problems. Current status from 90% Sometimes the PHM prices do not fit, but the rest is fine!
Well, that's clear. CZ, SK, PL, UA, etc. are not very willing to pay, so they use Waze. People from Skopje often already have built-in navigation or classic suction cups on the window. When I compare TomTom vs. Waze, in the Czech Republic, Waze clearly has the smoothest traffic info with an accuracy of almost a meter and TT quite bad. In Germany it is the opposite, even in its eastern part, Dresden and towards Berlin. I haven't tried other states with Waze yet.
For example, according to Waze, there are quite a few drivers in the UK, the twin cities in the south of Poole-Bournemouth are comparable to the analogous Pardubice-Hradec Králové in our country, so it is not possible to generalize like this.
Things are going well in Slovakia too! And the border of Germany too. It's probably because Czechs go there, but it works. And I didn't have a problem on the way to Berlin either.
I don't like the planned routes at all. As soon as I go to it (however), it says failed to communicate with routing server. Well, I do not know.
I like the new graphics a bit. Such tutti frutti. Too childish.
Exactly that graphic is like from a children's coloring book. Overall, the coldness worsened. It is not clear to see whether the jam is in my direction or in the opposite direction. Next are the warnings that I, as a driver, can enter, about an obstacle on the road, an animal on the road, that's scary. I went back to the older version.
I'm not saying that I like the new graphics, I agree that it's very childish, but I'd say it's a lot better than the one that was there before, so I'm happy for it.
And they won't have anything to eat at TomTom...
