Computers from Apple - and of course not only them - are characterized, among other things, by the fact that you can start using them to the full without any worries practically immediately after you unpack them and start them for the first time. Despite this undoubtedly great feature, it is worth making certain settings to make your product more enjoyable to use. Therefore, in today's article, we will show you five useful sound settings on Mac.

Deactivation of sound feedback

Every Mac owner is certainly familiar with the sound effect that a Mac emits when you increase or decrease the volume on it. However, this sound response can be rather distracting in some cases. To disable it, click the  menu -> System Preferences in the upper left corner of your Mac screen. Choose Sound, click the Sound Effects tab, and uncheck Play feedback on volume change.

Detailed volume adjustment

Seasoned Apple computer owners will most likely know this trick, but it may be a novelty for beginners. If you are not satisfied with the range in which the volume is increased or decreased by default, you can proceed to a more detailed change with the help of a simple trick. All you have to do is hold down the Option (Alt) and Shift keys on your Mac keyboard in addition to the volume keys.

Quick management of input and output

If you want to adjust the sound input or output on your Mac, your steps will most likely lead you through the  menu -> System Preferences -> Sound. However, if you have a sound control icon on the toolbar at the top of the screen, you can easily and quickly control the input and output from here as well. Just click on this icon while holding down the Option (Alt) key - an extended menu will appear in which you can easily and quickly change the relevant parameters.

Customize the sound of the microphone

If you also use your Mac for voice or video calls, you may have experienced a situation in the past where the other party couldn't hear you loud enough. In such a case, the solution is often to adjust the volume of the input, i.e. the microphone. To increase the microphone volume, click the  menu -> System Preferences -> Sound in the upper left corner of your Mac screen. Here, click the Input tab at the top of the window, then adjust the microphone volume level in the bar at the bottom of the settings window.

Equalizer

Although the macOS operating system does not offer an integrated equalizer as such, this fortunately does not mean that you are completely without a chance in this direction. There are a number of applications that allow you to really play with the sound settings of your Mac in detail. Great helpers for these purposes include, for example free SpeakerAmp from the workshop of domestic developer Pavel Kostka.
