But the moment you pick up the phone, you forgive him everything.
Yes, it is undeniable that there are not many improvements. But this is a proven strategy, where you simply increase the serial number and bring only a few extra functions. The iPhone 14 does not have a lot of them, but it is obvious that we would like more. In addition, one graphics core won't impress anyone, maybe we won't use the revolutionary satellite call in our region yet, but the detection of a car accident can save a life.

The biggest problem is that Apple has completely ignored any progress in display quality. So we don't even have an adaptive refresh rate here, we don't even have a Dynamic Island here. It is still the same display that was introduced by the iPhone 12, with the only difference being that the brightness values have increased in the iPhone 13. This year's is almost the same as last year's, not bad, but just the same. If there was at least the adaptive refresh rate from 10 to 120 Hz, it would be different. Even so, our endurance jumped slightly.

Perhaps the most obvious and interesting thing happens with the cameras. The most visible because they are bigger and the most interesting, on the contrary, because we have added at least one interesting function. However, it is still too early to evaluate the action mode. Let's also add that the movie mode is now capable of 4K (which it should have been able to do last year).

Again this year, we have a double 12MPx photo system, which consists of a main and an ultra-wide-angle camera. To emphasize that Apple has improved, in its Apple Online Store comparison you will find that the new product has an "advanced dual photo system". So what were the previous versions? The aperture of the wide-angle camera is now ƒ/1,5 instead of ƒ/1,6, that of the ultra-wide-angle is still the same ƒ/2,4. When you buy an iPhone 14, you know exactly what to expect, and that's what you get. There are no experiments here (Dynamic Island), everything is just an evolution of the existing and successful. After all, others are following a similar path, such as Samsung with its Galaxy Z Flip4. The quality of the cameras jumped, the durability improved, and a new generation of the chip arrived, and not much else happened.
Apple could have loosened up more, but if it needs to keep its distance from the Pro models not only in terms of functions, but also in price, it didn't have many options. The high European price cannot be blamed only on him, but also on the situation in the East, which was largely to blame. So, if the price was due to last year's generation and instead of 26 CZK, the iPhone cost 490 CZK, it would be a different song. This way it simply depends on everyone's preferences, whether to go for the new one, or reach for last year's thirteen, or pay extra for the 22 Pro model. It really depends on which generation of iPhone you currently own. Even though I am quite surprised by this myself, after the first impressions in my case positive feelings prevail.
