While ordinary mortals had to wait until today for the opportunity to purchase the latest iPhone XS Max, a select few were able to share their first impressions or unboxing videos during the week. Director Jon M. Chu, who shot his short film on the new Apple product, is also among the lucky ones who were able to try out the new iPhone.

The film titled "Somewhere" is actually shot only on an Apple smartphone without the use of any additional equipment such as additional lights or lenses. Chu even avoided using a tripod and used the native Camera app to shoot. Although the final image was edited on a computer, Chu did not use any additional color correction or additional effects. The picture in 4K quality captures the environment in which the dancer Luigi Rosado trains, there is no shortage of slow-motion shots at 240 fps.

The director admits that the iPhone XS Max impressed him primarily with its ability to deal with shots in motion, when he was able to correctly identify what he should focus on thanks to the autofocus function. In turn, the built-in stabilization ensured that all shots were as smooth as they should be. In this context, Chu especially highlights the shot in which he was quickly approaching the garage, which looks absolutely great as a result. Even Tim Cook himself praises the short film shot on the iPhone XS Max, who shared it on his Twitter account with an enthusiastic comment.
