Competition Together we open data, organized by the Otakar Motel Foundation, awards the best applications over open data. Authors can report their projects until October 31, 2014, the winners will receive financial and material prizes. Competitors can also take advantage of expert consultations by mentors from leading IT companies that are competition partners. So far, registered projects are dominated by practical services for the public, such as a map of public toilets or a database of nice Prague playgrounds.

"The projects registered so far show the great potential of open data for the creation of useful services for citizens and analytical tools for experts. I'm glad that we have diverse and original applications and I'm looking forward to further contributions to the competition," says Jiří Knitl, manager of the Otakar Motel Fund.

For example, a project will compete for prizes WC compass mapping the availability and quality of public toilets in the Czech Republic. The service was created by the non-profit organization Patients IBD primarily for the sick and disabled, but it will serve anyone who needs to find a toilet in an unfamiliar location. The WC Compass has been operating since the beginning of October and registers approximately 450 toilets. A part served as the basis open database from the friendly project Vozejkmap, which succeeded in last year's competition. However, users themselves can also add information, both about the location of the toilets and their cleanliness and equipment.

Another interesting service is Prague playground, a website mapping attractive playgrounds in Prague. It contains an overview of 81 locations with approximately 130 playgrounds, evaluating not only the equipment and condition of the playground, but also its accessibility by public transport or the proximity of other attractions. The application is based on freely available map data.

Czech web and mobile applications that work with open data or provide part of the used data in an open format can compete. Applications can be submitted until October 31, 2014 on the website www.otevrenadata.cz. Prizes of CZK 10-20, smartphones and professional training await the winners. Student projects can also receive a special prize of CZK 000.
