Another augmented reality game called Harry Potter: Wizards Unite is heading to the screens. As the title suggests, an adventure awaits us from the world of spells and charms based on the books of the same name.

The title belongs to the studio Niantic. Those in the know have already noticed, for the others we will try to get a little closer to the developer. Their child was the very popular Ingress game at the time, which let you take on the role of an agent in the near future. It was controlled by two interest groups that fought together for supremacy. Ingress was perhaps the first to properly use the elements of augmented reality, where you used the camera to scan various objects in the real world and then watch other actions on the screen of your phone.

From the legacy of Ingress then drew heavily on Pokémon GO. The game has been loved by millions of players around the world. Everyone wanted to catch their monster, and Pokémon was able to unite entire generations. Mass success was guaranteed. In addition, Ingress map materials were used, so Niantic concentrated only on the content and gameplay itself. Gradually, other elements were added, such as joint attacks on the gyms of opposing teams, skirmishes between the players themselves, or mutual exchange of Pokémon.

Harry Potter and the proven recipe of augmented reality

So Niantic comes to the third to get the most out of a proven concept. The strong Harry Potter brand should support it in its success. It is certain that the developers will once again reach for the already working recipe and probably add something on top.

This time you will become a member of a special unit of magicians who are trying to get to the bottom of the mystery of The Calamity. It is a cluster of chaotic magic that causes objects from the world of wizards to penetrate into the world of ordinary people, muggles. So the Ministry of Witchcraft and Wizardry sends you to get to the bottom of the mystery and clean up all the mess along the way.

However, it will not only be about magical items. We should also expect fortresses inhabited by opponents such as Death Eaters, with whom you will compete. Again, the game should also offer team elements.

Users of Android phones can already fill out the registration and with a bit of luck they will eventually get into closed testing. iPhone owners still have to wait. An official date has not been set, but Niantic promises a release sometime in 2019.
