The latest iPhone XS and XS Max are suffering from a rather curious problem. If the phone has its screen on and is idle for ten or more seconds, animations will slow down and cause slight stuttering. The problem only affects some models and the first cases started to appear already in October last year. Apple is aware of the bug, but has not yet managed to remove it even in the latest version of the system.

The animation freeze most often appears when returning from the application back to the home screen, but always only after the phone is idle for at least ten seconds and the user does not touch the screen. The problem is by no means extensive, but even so, many users complain about it directly on Apple's discussion forum. It has even already been created on Facebook group, which deals with the error. This is where the video below comes from.

What remains interesting is the fact that the ailment only affects the iPhone XS and XS Max, while no user has been affected by the iPhone XR. According to the information so far, the error is most likely related to the A12 Bionic processor, which will reduce performance after a certain period of device inactivity to reduce energy consumption. The system is probably not able to react quickly enough to the user's touch, to overclock the processor to a higher frequency, and therefore the animation has a lower number of frames - it is not as smooth.

The question remains, however, whether the error is really only of a software nature. According to one of the employees of the Apple Store, it is caused by inaccurate calibration of the device. Perhaps this is also why the company replaces the phone with a new one in the event of a complaint. However, according to many, the problem also appears on new models - one user already had it on three devices.

Although Apple is aware of the bug, it has not yet managed to fix it. Stuttering animations appear on both iOS 12.1.4 and the iOS 12.2 beta. However, perhaps the media could speed up the whole process.
