Not long ago, we brought you a review of the app musiXmatch for OS X, now it's time to check out its sibling designed for your iPhones and iPod touches. They can display song lyrics natively, but only if they are contained directly in the music files of your library.

The advantage of the application is that you do not need to import any files into it. Simply play music in the player or launch musicXmatch and select a song from your library. If there is a text for a given song in the database, it will be displayed immediately. Of course you need to be connected to the internet, all data is downloaded online from the musiXmatch.com servers. According to the notified numbers, the database should contain over 7 million texts in 32 languages.

The first thing you will undoubtedly notice is that the lyrics are displayed verse by verse exactly as they are sung. You can always see the current verse and one following. If you want to see more previous and next verses, click on the small icon made up of two dashes just below the timeline. If the text is only static, no one has apparently timed it yet. This is not an automatic process, but only a voluntary activity of musiXmatch users. To join, just tap the clock icon in the top right and log in with your Facebook account. Subsequently, the given song starts and you just move the individual verses to the exact moment in which they sound.

If you happen to remember a certain song that you don't have in your library, no problem. Just tap on Search in the bottom bar and write the name. If its lyrics are stored in the database, they will appear together with songs with a similar or the same name in the search results. In addition to the displayed text, you can play a short sample of the song or purchase it from the iTunes Music Store.

And finally, I leave the cherry on the cake - the orange button with the microphone. Click on it to start listening to the currently playing song, for example on the radio. After a few seconds, it will be identified - the cover, artist, title and link to iTunes will be displayed. Nothing special, SoundHound, for example, has been able to do this for a long time. But musiXmatch also adds lyrics moving in time. The situation then looks like music is pouring from the radio and verses are showing on the display. The developers did a great job with this.

As for other functions, musiXmatch does not offer anything ground-breaking. You can save the lyrics to your favorites or share them on Facebook and Twitter. You can choose the size and font in the settings - you can choose from Georgia, Helvetica Neue or Verdana. It is also possible to change the country of the iTunes account, or to manage application notifications. I would have one small complaint - you can't remove the ad. According to the application support, in-app purchase is being worked on with the option to remove the annoying banner.
