AppleInsider once again opens speculation about multitasking in iPhone OS4.0. This is not the first time that various sources have confirmed this to them. On the other hand, John Gruber comes in and refutes speculation about possible iPad widgets.

According to AppleInsider, iPhone OS 4.0 should appear with the release of a new iPhone model. The iPhone OS should now allow several applications to run in the background. It is not known what solution will be used for this. So we don't know how this will affect the overall performance of the iPhone and especially the battery life. In any case, it is already several times that this speculation has been heard and this time the information should come from really reliable sources.

On the other hand, John Gruber (a well-known blogger who is often familiar with Apple news) refutes the speculation that the Apple iPad hides some currently hidden mode for widgets. This speculation comes after apps such as Stocks, Weather, Voice Memo, Clock and Calculator are not seen on the iPad. It was assumed that they could appear in the form of widgets, but there is probably a much simpler reason for their non-presentation.

These simple apps just looked bad on the iPad. So it was more of a design problem. For example, the Clock app would look weird on a big screen. Apple had these apps built internally, but did not include them in the final version. They will probably appear sometime in the future (e.g. with the release of iPhone OS 4.0), but probably in a different form than we know from the iPhone.
